Wenceslao Paunero (general)
Wenceslao Paunero was a 19th-century Argentine General, politician and diplomat of Uruguayan origin. He was born within the Banda Oriental and would go on to be a major member of the Unitarian Party. He was also the Minister of War and Navy of Argentina and the provisional Governor of Córdoba. Early years He was born in Colonia del Sacramento in modern-day Uruguay, then part of the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata, on September 28, 1805, as the son of Juan Paunero Caballero, who settled there at the end of the 18th century, and Manuela Delgado Martínez, both of Spanish origin. For a short time, he attended the Royal College of San Carlos in Buenos Aires, but the lack of materials meant that his family had no fortune which forced him to dedicate himself to earning a living, postponing his studies. Marcos Paz
Marcos Paz (1813 – January 2, 1868) was Governor of Córdoba and Tucumán Provinces, an Argentine Senator, and Vice President of Argentina from October 12, 1862, until his death in 1868. Biography Marcos Paz was born to a prominent Tucuman family in 1813. His father was Juan Bautista Paz, a lawyer and legislator who served as deputy governor of the province several times, and his brother was General Gregorio Paz. He earned a law degree in 1834. He married the former Micaela Cascallares, daughter of a wealthy landowner, and settled with her in Buenos Aires. After the fall of Juan Manuel de Rosas in 1852 he joined Justo José de Urquiza in his fight against Bartolomé Mitre's forces in Buenos Aires, and joined Col. Hilario Lagos as an adjutant; the siege was ultimately unsuccessful. Santiago Rafael Luis Manuel José María Derqui Rodríguez ( Córdoba June 21, 1809 – Corrientes November 5, 1867) was president of Argentina from March 5, 1860 to November 5, 1861. He was featured on the 10 australes note, which is now obsolete. Roque Ferreyra (16 August 1810 – 13 September 1885) was an Argentina, Argentine politician, twice Governor of Córdoba (Argentine province), Governor of Córdoba Province (Argentina), Córdoba Province. Biography Ferreyra was a member of the Federales (Argentina), Federal Party and a prosperous businessman. He supported the revolution of 1840 against governor Manuel López (governor), Manuel López and was arrested, but benefited from an amnesty and did not involve himself in politics until the fall of López in 1852. Alejo Carmen Guzmán
Alejo del Carmen Guzmán (1815 in Córdoba – 1884 in Córdoba), was a lawyer and politician from Argentina and governor of Córdoba Province. He was a member of the Federal Party in his province during the administration of Manuel López. When news of the Battle of Caseros arrived, the governor named him General Minister. When the revolution of April 1852 started, he was named governor by the leaders of the rebellion, but he did not rely on them as much as he relied on the more numerous Federals. When General José María Paz, at the end of that year marched to Córdoba to form a Unitarian Party in the interior of the country, he sent advance parties and announced he would arrest the previous governor (Lopez).
