Government Law College, Tirunelveli
The Government Law College, Tirunelveli is one of seven state government law colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It was established in 1996 and is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University. The college initially operated from the Ponnusamy Pillai Bungalow situated on Tiruchendur Road, Palayamcottai. Presently, the college operates from its newly constructed building. The college has undergraduate and graduate programs and maintains two hostels for male and female students. Palayamkottai (also Palayankottai) is a neighbourhood in Tirunelveli, Tirunelveli City, incorporated within the Tirunelveli Municipal Corporation, Tirunelveli City Municipal Corporation. It is situated on the east bank of the Thamirabarani river, with the exception of its downtown area, which is present on the west bank. Etymology The region ''Palayamkottai'' in Tamil language, Tamil is a portmanteau of '''palayam''', which refers to a settlement, and kottai','' which translates to a fort.
