"Gotta Tell You" is a song by Irish singer Samantha Mumba and the title track from her first studio album. The song was written and produced by the Swedish team Bag & Arnthor (Anders Bagge and Arnthor Birgisson), with Mumba co-writing. "Gotta Tell You" was released on 2 June 2000 as Mumba's debut single and became an international hit, peaking at number one in Ireland and New Zealand, number two in the United Kingdom, and number three in Australia. In the United States, it reached number four on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, spending 22 weeks on that chart. In 2001, the song won a Meteor Music Award for Best Selling Irish Single – Female Artist. Samantha Tamania Anne Cecilia Mumba (born 18 January 1983) is an Irish R&B singer-songwriter, dancer, actress, fashion model and TV presenter. In 2000, at the age of 17, she shot to fame with the release of her debut single " Gotta Tell You", which reached the top five in Ireland, United Kingdom and the United States. It has since been listed in ''Billboard''s 100 Greatest Choruses of the 21st Century. Her album of the same name was released later that year and reached number four in Ireland and number nine in the UK. She has had seven top five hits in Ireland and six top ten hits in the United Kingdom. Mumba has also pursued an acting career, making her film debut in the 2002 film ''The Time Machine'', as well as appearing in a number of Irish independent films. Broadcast Data Systems (also known as Nielsen BDS, BDS or Luminate BDS) was a service that tracks radio, television and internet airplay of songs. The service, which is a unit of MRC Data, is a contributing factor to North American charts published by co-owned magazine ''Billboard'', including the Billboard Hot 100 and Canadian Hot 100, when combined with sales and streaming data from Soundscan. John Rankin Waddell (born 1966), known as Rankin, is a British photographer and director who has photographed, amongst other subjects, Björk, Kate Moss, Madonna (entertainer), Madonna, David Bowie and Elizabeth II, Queen Elizabeth II.
