Gorgoroth
Gorgoroth is a Norwegian black metal band based in Bergen. It was formed in 1992 by guitarist Infernus, who is the sole original member remaining, and has released nine studio albums. Gorgoroth are a Satanism, Satanic band and have drawn controversy due to some of their concerts, which have featured impaled sheep heads and mock crucifixions. The band is named after the dead plateau of darkness in the land of Mordor from J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy novel ''The Lord of the Rings''. History Early years (1992–1995) Gorgoroth was founded in 1992 by guitarist Infernus. In 1993, the band released their first demo, entitled ''A Sorcery Written in Blood''. God Seed
God Seed was a Norwegian black metal band based in Bergen. Former Gorgoroth members Gaahl and King ov Hell adopted the name in March 2009 following the ending of the Gorgoroth name dispute. Ov Hell
Ov Hell is a Norwegian black metal supergroup started by Shagrath and King ov Hell in 2009. The band's debut album, '' The Underworld Regime'', was released in February 2010 by Indie Recordings. History Background Ov Hell was formed by King ov Hell and Shagrath following the temporary dissolution of God Seed in July 2009, which was formed by King and Gaahl in March that year, following the conclusion of the Gorgoroth name dispute which had started in October 2007. Wardruna
Wardruna is a Norwegian music group formed in 2003 by Einar Selvik along with Gaahl and Lindy-Fay Hella. They create musical renditions of Norse cultural and esoteric traditions and make significant use of Nordic historical and traditional instruments, including deer-hide frame drums, flutes, lyre#Global variants and parallels, kraviklyra, Jew's harp, mouth harp, Bukkehorn, goat horn, and lur. Non-traditional instruments, like the Finnish jouhikko, and other sources of sound like trees, rocks, water, and torches are also used. They formed in 1989 and decided to split up in 2000 because Pest moved to the United States, and they did not succeed in finding a new singer. Borknagar
Borknagar is a Norwegian progressive metal band with black metal and folk influences. It was founded in Bergen in 1995 by Øystein Garnes Brun primarily as a black metal band before later switching to a more melodic and progressive style. Borknagar's lyrics often deal with philosophy, paganism, nature and the cosmos. The band has released twelve studio albums. I were a Norwegian black metal supergroup formed in 2003. The band featured Immortal frontman Abbath, Enslaved guitarist Ice Dale, Gorgoroth bassist TC King and former Immortal drummer Armagedda. I released their debut studio album, '' Between Two Worlds'', in 2006 and performed their sole show at the Hole in the Sky festival in Bergen that same year. Although work had begun on songs for a follow-up album, the band ceased to exist following the release of their debut album due to the members' commitment to their other bands. History Following Immortal's split and hiatus in 2003, frontman Abbath began working on new material and enlisted Enslaved guitarist Ice Dale to assist with pre-production. Regain Records
Regain Records is a Swedish-based independent record label. The label predominantly released death metal and black metal albums. Regain Records was founded from what remained of the former label, Wrong Again Records, by Per Gyllenbäck in 1997. Wrong Again Records had such bands as In Flames, Cryptopsy, Arch Enemy, and Naglfar among its ranks. Regain Records' first two releases were Deranged's '' High on Blood'' and Embraced's ''Amorous Anathema'', in late 1997. In the first two years of operation, business for the label was slow, due to lack of proper distribution.
