Goran Bogdanović (footballer)
Goran Bogdanović (; born 27 April 1967) is a Serbian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He was noted for his technical ability and dribbling skills, especially his step-overs. Club career After starting out at his hometown club Smederevo, Bogdanović was acquired by Partizan as a teenager in 1985. He would go on to win back-to-back championships with the ''Crno-beli'' in 1986 and 1987. After completing his compulsory military service in the 1988–89 season, Bogdanović established himself as one of the team's most regular players, helping Partizan win the only edition of the Yugoslav Super Cup (1989) and one Yugoslav Cup (1992). In February 1993, Bogdanović moved abroad to Spain and signed with Segunda División side Mallorca. He spent two and a half years with the ''Bermellones'', before transferring to La Liga side Espanyol in the summer of 1995. Smederevo
Smederevo ( sr-Cyrl, Смедерево, ) is a list of cities in Serbia, city and the administrative center of the Podunavlje District in eastern Serbia. It is situated on the right bank of the Danube, about downstream of the Serbian capital, Belgrade. According to the 2022 census, the city has a population of 59,261, with 97,930 people living in its administrative area. 1988–89 Yugoslav First League
The 1988–89 Yugoslav First League season was the 43rd season of the First Federal League (), the top level association football competition of SFR Yugoslavia, since its establishment in 1946. The season began on 6 August 1988 with its fall part completing on 18 December 1988. Following a two-month winter break, the season resumed on 26 February 1989 and ran until 4 June 1989. New rule: "Šajber's penalties" The season saw the introduction of a new way of awarding points when a league match ends in a draw. Two points were still being awarded for a win, while in case of a draw at the end of the ninety minutes — penalty kicks were taken and the shootout winner was awarded one point while the loser got nothing. The 1988–89 season was the very first to feature this tie-break method, and the Yugoslav FA's decision to implement it caused a lot of criticism and controversy. Serbia And Montenegro Cup
The Serbia and Montenegro Cup was an association football knockout cup tournament of Serbia and Montenegro played between 1992 and 2006, after which Serbia and Montenegro became separate nations. The competition was the continuation of the old Marshal Tito Cup of the SFR Yugoslavia, and it was named FR Yugoslavia Cup between 1992 and 2003, when the official name of the country was Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. It was renamed to Serbia and Montenegro Cup in 2003 when the country changed its official name. The cup was organized by the Football Association of Serbia and Montenegro. The 2002–03 UEFA Cup was the 32nd edition of the UEFA Cup, the second-tier European club football tournament organised by UEFA. The final was played between Portuguese side Porto and Scottish side Celtic at the Estadio Olímpico de Sevilla, Seville, on 21 May 2003. The 2001–02 First League of FR Yugoslavia was the tenth and last full season of the FR Yugoslavia's top-level football league since its establishment. UEFA competitions (), referred improperly by the mass media as European football, are the set of tournaments organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), generally in professional and amateur association football and futsal. Incidents Eternal derby abandoned The 115th edition of the Eternal derby match between Red Star Belgrade and FK Partizan on Saturday, 14 October 2000 at the Marakana was abandoned after three minutes of play due to fan rioting. The incident began with Partizan fans, Grobari, pelting the pitch with flares at which point the match play got interrupted. The rioting kept escalating with the southern stand seating being torn off by the Grobari and thrown onto the athletic track. At one point, the team captain Saša Ilić was seen in front of the stand pleading to no avail with the Partizan ultra supporters to stop rioting.
