"Good Bye, So Long" is a song written by Ike Turner. It was originally released by R&B duo Ike & Tina Turner in 1965. Release "Good Bye, So Long" was released as a single on Modern Records in May 1965. It reached No. 31 on ''Billboard'''s R&B Singles chart and No. 108 on Bubbling Under The Hot 100. Tina Turner promoted the record on ''Shindig!'' in August 1965. The B-side "Hurt Is All You Gave Me" received a 4 star rating from ''Billboard''. Both songs appeared on the compilation album '' The Soul of Ike & Tina'', released on Kent Record in 1966. Ike & Tina Turner
Ike & Tina Turner were an American musical duo consisting of husband and wife Ike Turner and Tina Turner. From 1960 to 1976, they performed live as the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, supported by Ike Turner's band the Kings of Rhythm and backing vocalists called the Ikettes. The Ike & Tina Turner Revue was regarded as "one of the most potent live acts on the R&B circuit." The duo had a string of R&B hits with their early recordings " A Fool In Love", " It's Gonna Work Out Fine", " I Idolize You", " Poor Fool", and "Tra La La La La". The release of " River Deep – Mountain High" in 1966, followed by a tour of the UK with The Rolling Stones, increased their popularity in Europe. "River Deep – Mountain High" is a song by Ike & Tina Turner released as the title track to their 1966 studio album on Philles Records. Produced by Phil Spector and written by Spector, Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich. ''Rolling Stone'' ranked "River Deep – Mountain High" No. 33 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The Inmates
The Inmates are a British pub rock band, which formed after the split of The Flying Tigers in 1977. In 1982, they had a medium-sized international hit with a cover of The Standells' " Dirty Water", and a UK Top 40 hit with their cover of Jimmy McCracklin's track, " The Walk". "Dirty Water" reached number 51 in the United States in January 1980. The song led directly to them recording their debut album, ''First Offence'', produced by Vic Maile for Radar Records. Two further albums were quickly recorded; ''Shot in the Dark'' again produced by Vic Maile, and ''Heatwave in Alaska'' produced by Stuart Coleman. BYG Records
BYG Records was a French record label known for the Actuel series specializing in free jazz. However, the label released a handful of non-jazz recordings by artists such as Musica Elettronica Viva, Freedom and Gong. History BYG Records was founded in March 1967 by Jean Georgakarakos, Jean-Luc Young, and Fernand Boruso. The name of the label was formed from the initial letters of the founders' surnames. Georgakarakos had previously established himself as a record distributor and importer, while Young worked for Barclay Records and Boruso for Saravah, the record label formed by Pierre Barouh. The label invited American free jazz musicians to Paris to record in the summer of 1969, a time when they were receiving little support or attention in the United States. ''Workin' Together'' is a studio album released by Ike & Tina Turner on Liberty Records on November 9, 1970. This was their second album with Liberty and their most successful studio album. The album contains their Grammy Award-winning single " Proud Mary." Content and release Much like their previous album, '' Come Together'', the album featured several covers of rock songs and also featured renewed versions of previous Ike & Tina songs, which was a habit for the couple. The album featured the duo's biggest-selling hit, a funk rock cover of "Proud Mary." The B-side, " Funkier Than a Mosquita's Tweeter", was written by Tina's sister Alline Bullock and later covered by Nina Simone. Stateside Records
Stateside Records, styled as $tateside Records, is a British record label, owned by Warner Music Group and operates through its Parlophone and Warner Records imprints. Upon creation, it initially released licensed American recordings and is now a reissue label. History It was formed in 1962 by EMI as a replacement for the Top Rank label (originally the Rank Organisation's label), which had folded. EMI hired former Top Rank label head Fred Oxon to run it and compete with Decca's London "American Recordings", and Pye's " Pye International" labels.
