Golo (department)
Golo was a Departments of France, department of France from 1793 to 1811. It was located in the northern and eastern parts of the island of Corsica. The capital was Bastia. The department was named after the river Golo (river), Golo. Golo and Liamone were created in 1793 by the division of the former department of ''Corse'', which covered the whole island. It was abolished in 1811, when Ajaccio became capital of the department of Corsica. Until 1976, Corsica was only divided into one department. Looc, officially the Municipality of Looc (), is a municipality in the province of Occidental Mindoro, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 7,802 people, making it the least populated municipality in the province. Geography The municipality encompasses the eastern half of Lubang Island, as well as Ambil, Golo and some other minor islands, which are part of the Tagalog homeland. Golo Mann (born Angelus Gottfried Thomas Mann; 27 March 1909 – 7 April 1994) was a popular German historian and essayist. After completing a doctorate in philosophy under Karl Jaspers at Heidelberg, in 1933 he fled Hitler's Germany. He followed his father, the writer Thomas Mann, and other members of his family in emigrating first to France, then to Switzerland and, on the eve of war, to the United States. From the late 1950s he re-established himself in Switzerland and West Germany as a literary historian. Mann was perhaps best known for his master work ''German History in the 19th and 20th Century'' (1958). A survey of German political history, it emphasised the nihilistic and aberrant nature of the Hitler regime.
