Gogol Street, Novosibirsk
Gogol Street (russian: Улица Гоголя) is a street in Tsentralny and Dzerzhinsky districts of Novosibirsk, Russia. It consists of two fragments. The first fragment starts at the intersection with Sovetskaya and Chelyuskintsev streets and runs east, crosses Krasny Avenue, Michurin, Kamenskaya, Shamshin Family, Olga Zhilina, Ippodromskaya streets and forms the intersection with the Seleznyov and Koshurnikov streets, then the street is interrupted by Beryozovaya Roshcha Park. The second street fragment branches off from Dzerzhinsky Prospekt, then runs north-east parallel to it, crosses Krasin, Korolyov, Kombinatskaya streets and connects with Trikotazhnaya Street. History In 1908, 37 nameless streets of the city received names. Among them, 21 streets were named after Russian writers and one street was named in honor of the Russian painter. Novosibirsk (, also ; rus, Новосиби́рск, p=nəvəsʲɪˈbʲirsk, a=ru-Новосибирск.ogg) is the largest city and administrative centre of Novosibirsk Oblast and Siberian Federal District in Russia. As of the 2021 Census, it had a population of 1,633,595, making it the most populous city in Siberia and the third-most populous city in Russia. The city is located in southwestern Siberia, on the banks of the Ob River. Andrey Petrovich Zvyagintsev (russian: Андре́й Петро́вич Звя́гинцев, p=ˈzvʲæɡʲɪntsɨf; born 6 February 1964) is a Russian film director and screenwriter. Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol; uk, link=no, Мико́ла Васи́льович Го́голь, translit=Mykola Vasyliovych Hohol; (russian: Яновский; uk, Яновський, translit=Yanovskyi) ( – ) was a Russian novelist, short story writer and playwright of Ukrainian origin. Dzerzhinsky Prospekt (russian: Проспект Дзержинского) is a street in Dzerzhinsky City District of Novosibirsk, Russia. It starts from Seleznyov Street and runs northeast, crosses Koshurnikov, Krasin, Shakespeare, Korolyov, Volochayevskaya and Polzunov streets. The prospekt ends near the bridge over the Kamenka River. The length of the street is about 5.7 kilometers (3.5 mi). History Dzerzhinsky Prospekt is one of the oldest roads in Novosibirsk. Michurin Street (russian: Улица Мичурина) is a street in Tsentralny City District of Novosibirsk, Russia. It runs south-north. The street starts from Ordzhonikidze Street opposite the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, crosses Yadrintsevskaya, Frunze, Krylov, Gogol streets and then forms a T-intersection with Pisarev Street. History The street was previously called the Alexandrovskaya Street, but was renamed in 1920 for Fyodor Serebrennikov, Russian revolutionary.
