Godolphin Racing
Godolphin (Arabic: جودولفين) is the Maktoum family's private Thoroughbred horseracing stable and was named in honour of the Godolphin Arabian, who came from the desert to become one of the three founding stallions of the modern Thoroughbred. Godolphin is buried at Wandlebury Park in Cambridge, where there is a stone to commemorate the horse in the passageway of the old buildings. Godolphin's headquarters are in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It operates two racing stables in Newmarket, UK, two in Sydney, Australia, one in Melbourne, Australia, and also has horses in training with independent trainers in Great Britain, Australia, France, Japan, the United States, and Ireland. Hidaka, Hokkaido
is a town located in Hidaka Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. Geography Hidaka Town is divided into two exclaves, which coincide with the former towns of Hidaka and Monbetsu. The town of Biratori lies between the two wards separating them. Hidaka Ward (Hidaka-ku) lies in the Hidaka Mountains at a cross road leading to Sapporo, Furano, Obihiro, and Biratori. Moulton Paddocks
Moulton Paddocks is a racing stable in Newmarket, Suffolk, UK operated by Godolphin Racing. It is said to have the capacity for around 200 horses, many of which are of extremely high quality. The stable is currently run by Charlie Appleby. History of the Moulton Paddocks estate, Suffolk At one time Moulton Paddocks was known as Fidget Hall, a possible reference to Sam Chifney's Fidget Farm of 70 acres situated at the extremity of the Bury Hill gallop. He named the farm after the sire of a horse he had ridden when young. Owners of Moulton Paddocks have since included: Sir Robert Pigot, Lord William Cansfield Gerard, George Alexander Baird, Sir Ernest Cassel and Solly Joel. Frederick Arthur Stanley, 16th Earl of Derby (15 January 1841 – 14 June 1908), known as Hon. Frederick Stanley until 1886 and Lord Stanley of Preston between 1886–1893, was a Conservative Party (UK), Conservative Party politician in the United Kingdom who served as Secretary of State for the Colonies, Colonial Secretary from 1885 to 1886 and Governor General of Canada from 1888 to 1893. Godolphin Stables, also known as Stanley House Stables, is a thoroughbred racehorse ownership, training and breeding operation in Newmarket, Suffolk, which has produced many notable horses. It is one of the most famous racing establishments in the world and is currently owned and operated by Godolphin Racing, the UK's largest flat racing operation. History and ownership The stables were built by Frederick Stanley, 16th Earl of Derby (also the namesake of the Stanley Cup in North American ice hockey), in 1903 and originally named Stanley House stables after Lord Derby's nearby house. In 1933, Walter Earl took over the yard and won the 1942 Derby with Watling Street. Cape Verdi (horse Race)
The Cape Verdi (sometimes known as the Cape Verdi Stakes), is a horse race run over a distance of 1,600 metres (one mile) on turf in late January or early February at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai. The race is named after Cape Verdi, a horse who won the 1000 Guineas for Godolphin in 1998. The race is restricted to female racehorses aged at least four years old, although three-year-olds bred in the southern hemisphere are also qualified. It was first contested in 2004 at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse before being transferred to Meydan in 2010. The Cape Verdi began as an ungraded race before being elevated to Listed class in 2006. Dubai Millennium (2 March 1996 – 29 April 2001) was a British-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. The colt was trained in the United Kingdom and Dubai during his racing career from 1998 and 2000. He is notable for winning a series of major races in 1999 and 2000, including the Dubai World Cup. He died after contracting grass sickness at the age of five.
