Hulleys Of Baslow
Hulleys of Baslow was an independent bus company based in Baslow, Derbyshire, England. History The origins of Hulleys can be traced back to 1914 when Henry Hulley purchased a Ford Model T and commenced running a taxi service based from Baslow. On 29 April 1921, a Ford Model T bus purchased by Henry Hulley began operating a service from Baslow to Chesterfield via Cutthorpe. In 1925 a service from Bakewell to Youlgreave commenced. By 1934, further growth through the acquisition of several small independent operators had seen the fleet expand to seven buses and coaches, with excursions operated to York, Skegness, Southport and Blackpool. A formal company named Henry Hulley & Sons Ltd was eventually founded on 25 January 1938. Founder Henry Hulley died in 1955, with the business passing his children and a coach being purchased in his memory. Darenth
Darenth is a village and civil parish in the Borough of Dartford, Kent, England. It is located 3.4 miles south east of Dartford and 4.6 miles north east of Swanley. History The parish was part of Axstane Hundred and later Dartford Rural District. In the 1870s, Darenth was described as "a parish in Dartford district, Kent; on the river Darent, 1½ mile N of Farningham r. station, and 2¼ SSE of Dartford". Demographics According to the 2011 Census, there were 2,398 males and 2,453 females living in the parish. The population in Darenth remains stable, up until 1850. After this point, the population increases gradually, up until 1911, where the population dramatically increases. The boundary for Darenth changed on 1 April 1955, thus explaining the minor fluctuation, the population then went on to reach its peak in 1960, with a total population of 5,127. Fastrack is the name given to two bus rapid transit schemes in Kent. The original network began on 26 March 2006 in Dartford and Gravesend, Kent, Gravesend, part of the Thames Gateway regeneration area, and on 17 November 2024 a separate network was launched in Dover. History Kent Thameside Construction work on the Fastrack network in Kent Thameside began on 23 September 2004. Longfield
Longfield is a village in the Borough of Dartford, Kent, England. It is located 6 miles south east of Dartford and the same distance south-west of Gravesend. History The place in Kent is recorded as ''Langanfelda'' in the Saxon Charters of 964–995, and as ''Langafel'' in the Domesday Book of 1086. West Kingsdown is a village and civil parish in the Sevenoaks district of Kent, England, on the A20 5 miles (8 km) southeast of Swanley, 5.5 miles (9 km) northeast of Sevenoaks and from London. Westerham
Westerham is a town and civil parishes in England, civil parish in the Sevenoaks District of Kent, England. It is located 3.4 miles east of Oxted and 6 miles west of Sevenoaks, adjacent to the Kent border with both Greater London and Surrey. It is recorded as early as the 9th century, and was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 in a Norman language, Norman form, ''Oistreham'' (compare Ouistreham in Normandy, ''Oistreham'' in 1086). Swanley
Swanley is a town and civil parishes in England, civil parish in the Sevenoaks District of Kent, England, southeast of central London, adjacent to the Greater London boundary and within the M25 motorway periphery. The population at the 2021 census was 17,826. History In 1066, Swanley only consisted of a few cattle farms, surrounded in oak, sycamore and ash (Fraxinus) woodland. Because Swanley only consisted of a few homesteads, it was not mentioned in the Domesday Book. There is a theory that the placename Swanley developed from the Old English, Saxon term 'Swine-ley', "Ley" meaning a clearing in the woods and "swine" meaning pigs. So it has been suggested that it was originally a Saxon pig farm or a stopping place for pigs on the way to the markets in Kent . This later developed into what we now know as Swanley. Edenbridge is a town and civil parishes in England, civil parish in the Sevenoaks (district), Sevenoaks district of Kent, England.
