Gmina Łaszczów
__NOTOC__ Gmina Łaszczów is an urban-rural gmina (administrative district) in Tomaszów Lubelski County, Lublin Voivodeship, in eastern Poland. Its seat is the town of Łaszczów, which lies approximately east of Tomaszów Lubelski and south-east of the regional capital Lublin. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2006 its total population is 6,503 (6,406 in 2013). Before 1 January 2010 (when Łaszczów became a town) it was classed as a rural gmina. The gmina (Polish: , plural ''gminy'' ) is the basic unit of the administrative division of Poland, similar to a municipality. , there were 2,479 gminy throughout the country, encompassing over 43,000 villages. 940 gminy include cities and towns, with 322 among them constituting an independent urban gmina () consisting solely of a standalone town or one of the 107 cities, the latter governed by a city mayor (''prezydent miasta''). The gmina has been the basic unit of territorial division in Poland since 1974, when it replaced the smaller gromada (cluster). Three or more gminy make up a higher level unit called a powiat, except for those holding the status of a city with powiat rights.
