Gmina Uniejów
__NOTOC__ Gmina Uniejów is an urban-rural gmina (principal unit of the administrative division of Poland, similar to a municipality) in Poddębice County, Łódź Voivodeship, in central Poland. Its administrative centre and the seat of the local government is the town of Uniejów, which lies approximately north-west of Poddębice and north-west of the regional capital Łódź. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2017 its total population is 7,062 (out of which the population of the town of Uniejów amounts to 3,011, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 4,051). The gmina (Polish: , plural ''gminy'' ) is the basic unit of the administrative division of Poland, similar to a municipality. , there were 2,479 gminy throughout the country, encompassing over 43,000 villages. 940 gminy include cities and towns, with 322 among them constituting an independent urban gmina () consisting solely of a standalone town or one of the 107 cities, the latter governed by a city mayor (''prezydent miasta''). The gmina has been the basic unit of territorial division in Poland since 1974, when it replaced the smaller gromada (cluster).
