Gmina Jednorożec
Gmina Jednorożec is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Przasnysz County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland. Its seat is the village of Jednorożec, which lies approximately north-east of Przasnysz and north of Warsaw. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2006 its total population is 7,192 (7,309 in 2013). History In 1867 the gmina was established with Jednorożec as its seat. Gmina Jednorożec contained 586 houses and 4,376 inhabitants (in 1882) and was contained within an area of 35,391 hectares. In the Jednorożec gmina were the chapel, the office of the municipality, the municipal court, post border guards, forestry office, four tar factories, three windmills, and two inns. The gmina (Polish: , plural ''gminy'' , from German ''Gemeinde'' meaning ''commune'') is the principal unit of the administrative division of Poland, similar to a municipality. , there were 2,477 gminas throughout the country, encompassing over 43,000 villages. 940 gminas include cities and towns, with 302 among them constituting an independent urban gmina ( pl, gmina miejska) consisting solely of a standalone town or one of the 107 cities, the latter governed by a city mayor (''prezydent miasta''). The gmina has been the basic unit of territorial division in Poland since 1974, when it replaced the smaller gromada (cluster). Lipa, Przasnysz County
Lipa is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Jednorożec, within Przasnysz County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland. History Lipa was originally a royal village, first noted in historical documents dated 1475. Because of its special royal status it became a trading post for knights seeking goods for trade. In 1795 Lipa was established as a governmental village, and, by 1827, there were 38 houses and 252 inhabitants. Lipa was thus, for the times, a relatively large and successful village with craftsmen, beekeepers, the peasants, and a tavern. During the late nineteenth center, Lipa prospered and grew, and now included two windmills and an inn, 71 homes and 618 residents, who cultivated 1,587 hectares of land and maintained 324 hectares of forest. Stegna, Przasnysz County
Stegna is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Jednorożec, within Przasnysz County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland. History Stegna was a village by the Orzyc River initially settled in the early nineteenth century on the estate of Kazimierz Krasiński. It remained part of the Krasiński and Wawrzyńca estate until late in the nineteenth century. In 1827 the settlement had 81 residents, and, by the middle of the nineteenth center, the village contained a dozen homes. By the late nineteenth century, the village counted 18 homes, 153 residents, on 260 land measures (''mórg''). During the fighting of World War I, Stegna lay on the front line of battle from the spring of 1915 to July 1915, and much of the village was destroyed. Postwar inhabitants rebuilt the village, and, a census taken post-war, in 1921, counted 28 homes and 156 inhabitants, including three Jews. Połoń is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Jednorożec, within Przasnysz County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland. It lies approximately north-west of Jednorożec, north of Przasnysz, and north of Warsaw. History The first evidence of the existence of the settlement now known as Połoń is recorded in historical documents dated 1526. In 1605 the village was operated under lease, with the villagers paying rent, and, in 1633 the lease was held by Jan Kazimierz Krasiński. In 1781 the village had 21 homes. During the years 1795–1864, the village was administered by its own village government. In 1867 the village was placed under the governance of the Gmina Jednorożec. A census in 1889 indicated that the village had 51 homes, 319 inhabitants, 1,194 hectares under cultivation, and 60 hectares of uncultivated land.
