__NOTOC__ Gmina Gródek nad Dunajcem is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Nowy Sącz County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the village of Gródek nad Dunajcem, which lies approximately north of Nowy Sącz and south-east of the regional capital Kraków. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2006 its total population is 8,896. The gmina contains part of the protected area called Ciężkowice-Rożnów Landscape Park. The gmina (Polish: , plural ''gminy'' ) is the basic unit of the administrative division of Poland, similar to a municipality. , there were 2,479 gminy throughout the country, encompassing over 43,000 villages. 940 gminy include cities and towns, with 322 among them constituting an independent urban gmina () consisting solely of a standalone town or one of the 107 cities, the latter governed by a city mayor (''prezydent miasta'').
