Gloria González
Gloria González (born April 6, 1944) is a Puerto Rican composer with an extensive repertoire of pop and salsa songs. Early years and education Gloria González Pérez was born on April 6 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. She is the only daughter of Jorge González and Blanca Pérez, both from the town of Arecibo, Puerto Rico. She attended elementary school at Manuel Padre Rufo School in Santurce, Puerto Rico. Her secondary studies were done at República Del Perú Jr. High, also in Santurce. In 1958, she moved with her father to New York City, where she attended P.S. 71 in Manhattan. Gloria later returned to Puerto Rico and got married. In 1967, she decided to continue her studies and graduated from Ramírez College as a paralegal secretary. Career In 1970, she started working with the Justice Department, but due to a back injury, she retired in 1983. Carmita Jiménez
Carmita Jiménez (August 3, 1939 – August 10, 2003) was a Puerto Rican singer who was considered a diva in Puerto Rico. She was born in San Lorenzo. Carmita Jiménez started her singing career at the young age of six, on the radio show named ''El Abuelito Welch'' (''Grandpa Welch'') with another legendary Puerto Rican show business legend, José Miguel Agrelot. This show, as its name suggested, was sponsored by the Welch's grape juice brand. At 15, Jimenez performed the ''Habanera'' from Bizet's opera ''Carmen''. Soon after, she joined popular music groups like the Moncho Usera orchestra, and then she released her first album, which contained the hit ''Tierra Rica'' (''Rich Earth''). During the 1960s, Jimenez became a popular fixture on Puerto Rico's television and enjoyed great renown. Springfield Symphony Orchestra
The Springfield Symphony Orchestra is an American orchestra based in Springfield, Massachusetts. It performs at Symphony Hall, a part of the Springfield Municipal Group. The Springfield Symphony (SSO) got its start when the conductor of the amateur Pioneer Valley Symphony of Greenfield, Alexander Leslie, decided he was ready to lead a professional organization. After gaining the support of the area cultural and business communities, Leslie began to assemble an orchestra based in Springfield, which had no professional orchestra. The SSO performed its first concert at the Municipal Auditorium in 1944. Its first performance was given great reviews and even recorded by the Office of War Information for rebroadcast overseas.
