Glenmark Eriksson Strömstedt
Glenmark Eriksson Strömstedt (GES) is a Swedish supergroup (music), supergroup formed in 1994. The group's line-up comprises Anders Glenmark, Orup and Niklas Strömstedt, whose last names begin with the letters forming the trio's name. During 1994 and 1995, the group achieved many list successes in Sweden, and has since then been active in periods. History In 1993, Anders Glenmark, Orup and Niklas Strömstedt performed together in a group called "Miss Ellies Kapell" at the entertainment house Brygget in Åre Municipality, Åre, where they played each other's songs. The group also consisted of Micke "Syd" Andersson from Gyllene Tider and Tommy Ekman from Style (Swedish band), Style. Strömstedt had later been asked by the Swedish Football Association to write the official song for the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Skansen (; "the Sconce") is the oldest open-air museum and zoo in Sweden located on the island Djurgården in Stockholm, Sweden. Dalhalla
Dalhalla is an open air theatre located in a former limestone quarry, and is used as a summer music venue. It is located north of Lake Siljan and the municipality of Rättvik in Dalarna, central Sweden. The quarry, previously known as ''Draggängarna'', is deep, long and wide. It was in operation until 1990. The open air theater was opened in 1995 and currently has 4,000 seats. The acoustical qualities are comparable to the best outdoor stages in Europe. Dalhalla presents 20-30 events each summer, from June to the beginning of September with a combination of opera, choral works, jazz and popular concerts making up the bulk of the program. In 2005, guest performers came from the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, and Mikis Theodorakis celebrated his 80th birthday. Öland
Öland (, ; ; sometimes written ''Oland'' internationally) is the second-largest Swedish island and the smallest of the traditional provinces of Sweden. Öland has an area of and is located in the Baltic Sea just off the coast of Småland. The island has over 26,000 inhabitants. It is separated from the mainland by the Kalmar Strait and connected to it by the Öland Bridge, which opened on 30 September 1972. The county seat Kalmar is on the mainland at the other end of the bridge and is an important commercial centre related to the Öland economy. Borgholm Castle
Borgholm Castle () in Borgholm, Sweden, is today only a ruin of the fortress that was first built in the second half of the 13th century and rebuilt many times in later centuries. It is linked to Halltorp estate, to the south. The castle was destroyed in a fire on 14 October 1806. History The construction of the original fortress was probably ordered by King Canute I, although this is not totally certain. He reigned 1167–1195 and had fortresses built on the Swedish east coast as defence against enemies from the other side of the Baltic Sea. During the 13th to 15th centuries, additions and changes were made. For example, new towers were built, and a new and thicker wall was constructed. ''Allsång på Skansen'' (''Sing-along at Skansen'') is a Sweden, Swedish show held at Skansen, Stockholm, every summer on Tuesdays between 8pm and 9pm. The audience is encouraged to sing-along, sing along with musical guest stars to well-known Swedish and international songs. The show started in 1935 on a small scale; about 50 people in the audience. Today, about 10,000–25,500 people come to each performance. Since 3 August 1979 the show has been broadcast by Sveriges Television. Initially the show had about 300,000 viewers. When Lasse Berghagen took over as host, the ratings increased to about 2 million viewers. In 2003, ''Allsång på Skansen'' was the first SVT programme that was broadcast with 5.1 multichannel sound.
