Gizem Girişmen
Gizem Girişmen (born 25 November 1981) is a Turkish Paralympic archerhttp://www.hurriyet.com.tr/spor/digersporlar/9888672.asp?m=1 competing in the women's recurve ARW2 event. Early years In 1992, at the age of eleven, she was paralyzed following a traffic accident. She completed her education with honors in Business Administration from Bilkent University in 2004. In the same year, she was invited to an archery competition where she got interested and decided to practice that sport. She practised in the basement garage of her apartment building, with the permission of the neighbors. After two years of practice and competition experience in national tournaments, Gizem Girişmen had 3rd place (ARW2 Recurve Female) at 2006 EPC Archery European Championships held in the Czech Republic, which was her first international tournament. The Paralympic Games or Paralympics is a periodic series of international multisport events involving athletes with a range of disabilities. There are Winter and Summer Paralympic Games, which since the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, have been held shortly after the corresponding Olympic Games. All Paralympic Games are governed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). The Paralympics began as a small gathering of British World War II veterans in 1948. Mesme Taşbağ (born 7 September 1981) is a Turkish visually impaired judoka ( disability class B3) competing in the heavyweight (+70 kg) division. She is a physician by profession. Early life Mesme Taşbağ was born in Iğdır, Turkey on 9 July 1981. She was educated in medicine at Ondokuz Mayıs University in Samsun graduating in 2008. She served five years long in her hometown in Iğdır. Currently, she works as a physician in the emergency service of the Yunus Emre Hospital in Eskişehir. Sporting career Taşbağ began in Iğdır with performing judo as she wanted to stay in shape. During this time, she developed keratoconus, a degenerative disorder of the eye leading to 40% loss of her visual acuity. At the 2015 IBSA World Championships and Games in Seoul, South Korea, she took a bronze medal in the +70 kg event.
