Benjamin Gitlow
Benjamin Gitlow (December 22, 1891 – July 19, 1965) was a prominent American socialist politician of the early 20th century and a founding member of the Communist Party of the United States, Communist Party USA. At the end of the 1930s, Gitlow turned to conservatism and wrote two sensationalism, sensational exposés of American communism, books which were very influential during the McCarthyism, McCarthy period. Gitlow remained a leading Anti-communism, anti-communist up to the time of his death. Background Benjamin Gitlow was born on December 22, 1891, in Elizabethport, New Jersey. His parents were Jews, Jewish immigrants from the Russian Empire; his father, Lewis Albert Gitlow, moved to the United States in 1888, followed by his mother, Katherine, in 1889. Stuart Gitlow (born November 29, 1962) is an American psychiatrist who is a past president of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Biography Gitlow was born on November 29, 1962. Following completion of his bachelor of science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he earned an M.D. from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Pittsburgh and Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Rhode Island. His psychiatric and public health training were at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Harvard University for his forensic fellowship.
