Gintarė Petronytė
Gintarė Petronytė (born 19 March 1989) is a Lithuanian retired professional female basketball player. As a member of the senior Lithuania women's national basketball team, Lithuanian women's national team, she played 158 games, scored 1844 points and participated in 2006 FIBA World Championship for Women, 2006 FIBA World Championship and EuroBasket Women 2015, 2015 EuroBasket. She is recognized as one of the best Lithuanian female basketball players of all time. Career On 21 July 2010, Galatasaray Medical Park (women's basketball), Galatasaray Medical Park announced that Petronyte had joined the team on a two-year contract. On 21 March 2024, Petronyte retired from playing professional basketball. Galatasaray is the professional women's basketball section of Galatasaray S.K., a major sports club in Istanbul, Turkey. Galatasaray women's basketball team play matches in Ahmet Cömert Sport Hall which has a seating capacity for 2,200 spectators. The team recently won the 2013–14 EuroLeague Women and the Turkish Women's Basketball League title after beating Fenerbahçe Women's Basketball in the finals. The EuroCup Women 2009–10 was the eighth of FIBA Europe's second-tier international competition for women's basketball clubs under such name, running from 11 November 2009 to 8 April 2010. 2006 FIBA World Championship For Women
The 2006 FIBA World Championship for Women took place in Brazil from September 12 to September 23, 2006. It was co-organised by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and Confederação Brasileira de Basketball, the Brazilian national federation. Sixteen national teams competed for the championship. Australia came away with the gold medal by beating Russia 91–74. The Lithuania women's national basketball team () represents Lithuania in international women's basketball competitions. They are regulated by the Lithuanian Basketball Federation, the governing body for basketball in Lithuania. The team is currently ranked 31st in the FIBA Women's World Ranking, FIBA World Rankings. The version originally played was the German (Dutch) variant, not the North American version invented by James Naismith. Basket Liga Kobiet (BLK), officially known as the Orlen Basket Liga Kobiet (OBLK) due to its sponsorship by Orlen, is a professional women's club basketball league in Poland. The Greek women's Basketball League, also known as A1 Ethniki (A1 National) Women's Basketball is the most important competition of Greek women's professional basketball. It is organised by the EOK (Hellenic Basketball Federation). It began with the 1967–68 season.
