Gintaras Andriuškevičius (born 6 July 1975 in Alytus) is a retired Lithuanian race walker. He represented his nation Lithuania at the 2004 Summer Olympics, and also recorded a personal best of 1:22:10 in the men's 20 km race walk upon placing first at the 2001 Lithuanian Cup in Prienai. Andriuskevicius qualified for the men's 20 km race walk at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by registering a B-standard entry time of 1:24:29 from A. The men's 20 kilometres race walk at the 2004 Summer Olympics as part of the athletics program was held through the streets of Athens with the start and finish at the Athens Olympic Stadium on August 20. The Chinese trio of Han Yucheng, Liu Yunfeng, and Zhu Hongjun took an early lead as the race walkers had left the stadium, but their challenge never materialized. Racewalking
Race walking, or racewalking, is a long-distance discipline within the sport of athletics. Although a foot race, it is different from running in that one foot must appear to be in contact with the ground at all times. Race judges carefully assess that this is maintained throughout the race. However, if there is an argument between referee, a replay video must be reviewed to judge accordingly. Typically held on either roads or running tracks, common distances range from up to 100 kilometres (62.1 mi). The current race walking contests at the Summer Olympics are the 20 kilometres race walk (men and women) and the marathon race walk mixed relay, the latter of which debuted at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
