Gervase Pierrepont, 1st Baron Pierrepont
Gervase Pierrepont, 1st Baron Pierrepont (1649 – 22 May 1715), was an English politician. Pierrepont was the younger son of William Pierrepont, second son of Robert Pierrepont, 1st Earl of Kingston-upon-Hull. His mother was Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Thomas Harries, 1st Baronet, of Tong Castle, Shropshire. He was the uncle of Robert Pierrepont, 3rd Earl of Kingston-upon-Hull, William Pierrepont, 4th Earl of Kingston-upon-Hull, and Evelyn Pierrepont, 1st Duke of Kingston-upon-Hull. Pierrepont was returned to Parliament as one of two representatives for Appleby in 1698, a seat he held until 1705. In 1702 he was raised to the Peerage of Ireland as Baron Pierrepont, of Ardglass. This creation in the Peerage of Ireland allowed him to be ennobled, yet still remain in the House of Commons. William Pierrepont (politician)
William Pierrepont (c. 160717 July 1678) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1640 and 1660. He supported the Parliamentary cause in the English Civil War. Life Pierrepont was the second son of Robert Pierrepont, 1st Earl of Kingston-upon-Hull and his wife Gertrude Talbot, daughter of Hon. Henry Talbot of Burton Abbey, Yorkshire. He matriculated from Emmanuel College, Cambridge, in 1624 and was admitted at Lincoln's Inn on 1 April 1627. He was appointed Sheriff of Shropshire for 1638. In April 1640, Pierrepont was elected Member of Parliament for Shropshire in the Short Parliament. He was elected MP for Great Wenlock in the Long Parliament in November 1640. He threw his influence on the side of peace and took part for the parliament in the negotiations with Charles I at Oxford in 1643. Sir John Walter, 3rd Baronet
Sir John Walter, 3rd Baronet (c. 1674–1722) of Sarsden House, Oxfordshire was a British politician who sat in the English House of Commons between 1694 and 1707 and in the British House of Commons from 1708 to 1722. Biography Walter was the eldest surviving son of Sir William Walter, 2nd Baronet and his first wife Mary Tufton, daughter of John Tufton, 2nd Earl of Thanet. He matriculated at Queen's College, Oxford, on 21 August 1691. On 5 March 1694 he succeeded his father to the estates and the Walter baronets, baronetcy. He married. Elizabeth Vernon, daughter of Thomas Vernon (1631-1711), Sir Thomas Vernon merchant and MP of London in about 1700. Baron Pierrepont
Baron Pierrepont is a title that has been created four times in British history. The first creation came in the Peerage of England on 29 June 1627 when Sir Robert Pierrepont was created Baron Pierrepont, also being created Viscount Newark at the same time. He was further created Earl of Kingston-upon-Hull in 1628. The fifth Earl was created Duke of Kingston-upon-Hull in 1715 in the Peerage of Great Britain, with the Dukedom becoming extinct on the death of the second Duke in 1773. The second creation came in the Peerage of Ireland on 29 March 1702 when Gervase Pierrepont was created Baron Pierrepont, of Ardglass, County Down. On 19 October 1714 he was also made Baron Pierrepont, of Hanslope in the County of Buckingham, in the Peerage of Great Britain, being the third creation of the title, with this creation giving Gervase Pierrepont an automatic seat in the House of Lords. William Harvey (1663–1731)
William Harvey (1 April 1578 – 3 June 1657) was an English physician who made influential contributions to anatomy and physiology. He was the first known physician to describe completely, and in detail, pulmonary and systemic circulation as well as the specific process of blood being pumped to the brain and the rest of the body by the heart (though earlier writers, such as Realdo Colombo, Michael Servetus, and Jacques Dubois, had provided precursors to some of his theories).
