Germán Frers
Germán Frers Sr. (born July 4, 1941) is an Argentinian naval architect known for designing racing yachts. He designed his first yacht in 1958 and has been involved in the design of more than 1000 yachts, including '' Kialoa V'' and '' Hyperion'', which, when launched in 1997 was the largest sloop ever made. Yachts designed by the Frers team have won many different yachting events around the world including: the Admiral's Cup, Onion Patch, Bermuda Race, Transpacific, Whitbread Round the World Race, Sardinia Cup, Buenos Aires-Rio Race, S.O.R.C. (Southern Ocean Racing Circuit), Kenwood Cup, Copa del Rey, San Francisco Big Boat Series, Giraglia Race, Settimana delle Bocche, Two Ton Cup World Championship, Martini Middle Sea Race and the Maxi World Championship. Hallberg-Rassy Varvsaktiebolag (HR) is a Swedish shipyard internationally known for producing high quality blue water sailing yachts. The company's yard is located in Ellös on the island of Orust, Västra Götaland. History Harry Hallberg founded his yard in 1943, and in 1965 Christoph Rassy founded a yard, in the premises recently vacated by Hallberg. Harry Hallberg's most distinguished contribution was his understanding of the advantages of using GRP and to build boats in a series. Hallberg-Rassy was formed when Rassy purchased the Hallberg yard after Harry Halberg's retirement in 1972. Since 1989 all boats have been designed by the Argentinian engineer and yacht designer Germán Frers. To date, more than 9,400 yachts have been completed by the yard. The ClubSwan 42, also called the Club Swan 42 and the New York Yacht Club 42 (NYYC 42), is a Finnish sailboat that was designed by Germán Frers as a one design racer-cruiser and first built in 2005. Production The design was a joint project between the New York Yacht Club (NYYC) and Finnish company Oy Nautor AB who built the boats in Estonia. Production ran from 2005 until 2013 with 58 boats completed. Boats built for members of the NYYC were delivered as the NYYC 42 and boats sold to others were marketed as the ClubSwan 42. Of an initial order of 36 boats, 25 went to NYYC members. Nautor's Swan
Oy Nautor Ab is a Finnish producer of luxury sailing yachts, based in Jakobstad. It is known for its ''Nautor's Swan'' range of yachts models. The company was founded in 1966 by Pekka Koskenkylä. The designers Nautor has worked with four naval architects for its production sailing yachts. Nautor's custom division have also built Luca Brenta and Bill Tripp designs. Powerboats have been designed by Don Shead and Jakko Jamson. 1960s to 1970s - Sparkman & Stephens The original designer Sparkman & Stephens had a long association with Nautor and were responsible for the first 775 yachts sold. These early designs combined a luxurious interior in a fiberglass hull with features that were then current in successful racing boats, such as the separation of the skeg-hung rudder from the keel.
