Within the Ranks and insignia of NATO, NATO rank structure is rated OF-6, as such is equivalent to Brigadier general or Air commodore. A shoulder mark, also called a rank slide or slip-on, is a flat cloth sleeve worn on the shoulder strap of a uniform. It may bear rank or other insignia. A shoulder mark should not be confused with a (an elaborate shoulder strap), a (a braided type of shoulder board), or an epaulette, although these terms are often used interchangeably. In military aviation, a wing is a unit of command. In most military aviation services, a wing is a relatively large formation of planes. In Commonwealth countries a wing usually comprises three squadrons, with several wings forming a group (around 10 squadrons). Each squadron will contain around 20 planes.
