General (Pakistan)
General ; ; abbreviated as GEN) is a Four-star rank, four-star general officer military rank, rank of the Pakistan Army, officially used by the government of Pakistan to denote a supreme leader of the army. It is given to an army general officer (usually a lieutenant general) upon promotion or possibly a position advancement with a Pay grade, basic pay scale of 22 (BPS-22). It is the highest rank in the Pakistan Armed Forces, armed services, immediately ranks above three-star Lieutenant general (Pakistan), lieutenant general and below five-star Field marshal (Pakistan), field marshal. Since it is denoted by a four-star rank, it is equivalent to the rank of Admiral (Pakistan), admiral and Air chief marshal (Pakistan), air chief marshal. The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) is a position in the Pakistani Army held by a four-star general. As the highest-ranking officer, it is the most powerful position in the army. This is the senior most appointment in the army who is a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee in a separate capacity, usually consulting with the Chairman joint chiefs to act as a military adviser to the Prime Minister and its civilian government in the line of defending the land borders of the country. The Chief of the Army Staff exercises responsibility of command and control of the operational, combatant, logistics, and training commands within the army. Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) is a military academy located nearby Kakul village in Abbottabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Established in October 1947, it is the only service academy in Pakistan that trains cadets to serve as army officers. The Sindh Regiment (, ) (previously Sind Regiment) is an infantry regiment of the Pakistan Army established on 1 July 1980. The regiment takes its name from Sindh province in southern Pakistan. Prior to its formation there had been no regiment in the Pakistan Army specifically intended to recruit primarily from the Sindhi population.
