Geetika Varde
Geetika Varde Qureshi is an Indian classical vocalist of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana of Hindustani classical music and wife of percussionist Taufiq Qureshi. She is also one of the graded artistes of All India Radio and a proud recipient of the prestigious 'Surmani' title from Sur Shringar Samsad. From light music to world music Geetika Varde Qureshi has performed in India as well as abroad, for example at the Trafalgar Square Festival 2006, adds the release. Early life and background Born to Mohini and Mohan Varde, she was brought up in the Shivaji Park area in Mumbai, along with her elder sister Laxmi. She studied at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, where she met Taufiq Qureshi, whom she was to wed later. Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana
The Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana (also known as Jaipur Gharana, Atrauli-Jaipur Gharana, and Alladiyakhani Gayaki) is a Hindustani music apprenticeship fraternity ('' gharana''), founded by Alladiya Khan in the late-19th century. Evolved from the dhrupad tradition of the Atrauli and Dagarbani lineages, but known for khayal, this gharana is known for producing acclaimed musicians like Kishori Amonkar, Kesarbai Kerkar, Laxmibai Jadhav, Mogubai Kurdikar, Mallikarjun Mansur, Shruti Sadolikar, Dhondutai Kulkarni, and Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande. Hindustani classical music is the Indian classical music, classical music of the Indian subcontinent's northern regions. Taufiq Qureshi
Ustad Taufiq Qureshi (born 1962) is an Indian classical musician. He is a percussionist and composer. Early life Born in Mumbai to the tabla player Alla Rakha. His eldest brother was a legendary tabla player, Zakir Hussain. He received guidance from Ghatam Vidhwan, Pandit Vikku Vinayakram. Career Qureshi started his career when he was still in his 20s. His stint with live performances began with the creation of his own world music band, ‘Surya’, way back in 1986-87. He has been featured as a performing artiste on the 2009 Grammy Award-winning album '' Global Drum Project'', ''Remember Shakti'', ''Masters of Percussion'' and ''Summit''. ''Mid-Day'' (stylised as mid-day) is a morning daily Indian Compact (newspaper), compact newspaper. Shivaji Park Residential Zone
The Shivaji Park Residential Zone is a precinct consisting of 187 residential buildings that were built as part of the Shivaji Park scheme in Dadar, Mumbai.
