Gavin Seminar
The ''Gavin Report'' was a San Francisco-based radio industry trade publication. The publication was founded by radio performer Bill Gavin in 1958. Its Top 40 listings were used for many years by programmers to decide content of programs. The publication was also responsible for running the Gavin Seminar, a convention for radio industry members. In February 2002, United Business Media, who had owned the ''Gavin Report'' since 1992, decided to close the publication. Radio Industry
The "radio industry" is a generic term for any companies or public service providers who are involved with the Broadcasting, broadcast of radio stations or ancillary services. Radio broadcasters can be broken into at least two different groups: Public broadcasting, Public service broadcasters are funded in whole or in part through public money. This may be through money received directly from the government, or, as in the UK, through a Television licence, license fee. The license fee is typically protected by law and set by the government, and is required for any household which contains equipment which can be used to receive a Television, TV signal. Record Charts
A record chart, in the music industry, also called a music chart, is a ranking of Sound recording and reproduction, recorded music according to certain criteria during a given period. Many different criteria are used in worldwide charts, often in combination. These include record sales, the amount of radio airplay, the number of music download, downloads, and the amount of streaming media, streaming activity. Some charts are specific to a particular musical genre and most to a particular geographical location. Infinity Broadcasting Corporation was a radio company that existed from 1972 until 2005. It was founded by Michael A. Wiener and Gerald Carrus. It became associated with popular radio personalities like Howard Stern, Opie and Anthony, Don Imus and Mike Francesa. Radio programming is the process of organising a schedule of radio content for commercial broadcasting and public broadcasting by radio stations. History The original inventors of radio, from Guglielmo Marconi's time on, expected it to be used for one-on-one wireless communication tasks where telephones and telegraphs could not be used because of the problems involved in stringing copper wires from one point to another, such as in ship-to-shore communications.
