Gastón Perkins
Gastón Carlos Perkins (April 15, 1928– April 19, 2006) was an Argentina, Argentine racing driver. He won the Turismo Carretera championship in 1969. Racing career Perkins started his racing career in 1952. He was one of the Argentine drivers who participated in the ''Marathon de la Route'' (Nürburgring) in 1969 with Eduardo Rodríguez Canedo and Jorge Cupeiro. He won three titles in Turismo Nacional (Class B) in 1963, 1964 and 1965, with Renault Dauphine. In 1969 he was Turismo Carretera champion with a IKA-Renault Torino, Torino. He died in his hometown, Juan Bautista Alberdi, Buenos Aires Province, in 2006 at the age of 78. Buenos Aires Province
Buenos Aires, officially the Buenos Aires Province, is the largest and most populous Provinces of Argentina, Argentine province. It takes its name from the city of Buenos Aires, the capital of the country, which used to be part of the province and the province's capital until it was Federalization of Buenos Aires, federalized in 1880. The IKA Torino, later renamed as Renault Torino, is a Mid-size car, mid-sized automobile made by Industrias Kaiser Argentina (IKA) between 1966 and 1981, under an agreement with American Motors Corporation (AMC). Turismo Nacional (National tourism, lit., national touring) popularly known by its acronym TN, is a touring car racing series based in Argentina that has been active since 1961. It is organized by the Asociación de Pilotos de Automóviles de Turismo and is governed by the Automobile Sports Commission of the Argentine Automobile Club. The cars involved are almost standard preparation cars, that is to say practically a road car prepared for competitions. Originally, only models made in Argentina were allowed (hence the name, that is, nationally manufactured), but after Argentina's entry into Mercosur, Brazilian models were allowed.
