Gary Rhodes
Gary Rhodes (22 April 1960 – 26 November 2019) was an English restaurateur and television chef, known for his love of English cuisine and ingredients and for his distinctive spiked hair style. He fronted shows such as ''MasterChef'', '' MasterChef USA'', ''Hell's Kitchen'', and his own series, ''Rhodes Around Britain''. As well as owning several restaurants, Rhodes also had his own line of cookware and bread mixes. Rhodes went on to feature in the ITV1 programme '' Saturday Cooks'', as well as the UKTV Food show '' Local Food Hero'' before his sudden death at age 59. Early years Rhodes was born in Camberwell, South London, in 1960, to Gordon and Jean (''née'' Ferris) Rhodes. He moved with his family to Gillingham, Kent, where he went to The Howard School in Rainham. He then attended catering college in Thanet where he met his wife Jennie. Saturday Cooks
''...Cooks!'' is an ITV television cookery show, hosted by Antony Worrall Thompson, broadcast between 10 June 2006 to 21 May 2010. Formats There were different names for the show, depending on which day it aired. The Saturday morning show was called ''Saturday Cooks!'', whilst the show that aired during the week was called ''Daily Cooks Challenge''. This series aired in a weekday prime-time slot and from its second series was shot in front of a studio audience. It has mostly been broadcast on ITV3 between 2008 and 2012 with new episodes on ITV1. Sous Chef
A sous-chef is a chef who is second in command of a kitchen, ranking directly below the head chef in the Kitchen Brigade system developed by Auguste Escoffier. In large kitchens, sous-chefs are typically left in charge of managing members of the kitchen on behalf of the head chef, who may often be preoccupied with other tasks such as purchasing, staffing or developing dishes. Duties and functions The sous-chef has many responsibilities, because the executive chef has a more overarching role. Thanet College
EKC Broadstairs College is a further education college (although also provides higher education courses) located in Broadstairs, Kent on the southeast coast of the United Kingdom. The main campus is located on Ramsgate Road, Broadstairs. In September 2011 the college had hoped to move into purpose-built buildings at Millennium Way, Westwood on the outskirts of the town, but due to the LSC building program being overcommitted the planned move never occurred. The college is currently refurbishing existing buildings to provide better facilities for students. In September 2012, Thanet College was renamed to East Kent College. Rainham, Kent
Rainham ( ) is a town in the unitary authority area of Medway, in the ceremonial county of Kent, England. The town forms a conurbation with neighbouring towns Chatham, Rochester, Strood and Gillingham. History Historically, Rainham was a separate village. In 1921 the civil parish had a population of 4335. On 1 April 1929 the parish was abolished and merged with Gillingham and became part of the Municipal Borough of Gillingham, which was originally created in 1903 and was grouped into the latter's built-up area in analysis of the 2011 census by the Office for National Statistics. The Howard School, Kent
The Howard School is a boys' secondary school in Rainham, Kent, England, with approximately 1,500 pupils. It offers a partially selective system and is one of only five bi-lateral schools in the United Kingdom. The partially selective system permits admission to the grammar school section by the 11-Plus selection, however a passing mark is not required if the pupil is seen to have the ability to work in the 'grammar stream', and non-selective admission to the high school. The school is a Sports College. History The school was named after Dorothy Howard, who played a major part in the local community, and was established in 1975 by amalgamating Rainham Boys' Secondary School and Gillingham Boys' Grammar School to form a bi-lateral school.
