''Gary'' is the fifth studio album by English indie pop band Blossoms. It was released on 20 September 2024 through Odd SK Recordings. The album was supported by the singles "What Can I Say After I'm Sorry?", "Gary", "Perfect Me" and "I Like Your Look". The album and title track were named after a fibreglass gorilla statue of the same name, which was stolen from a garden centre in Lanarkshire, Scotland in 2023. It debuted atop the UK Albums Chart, becoming the band's fourth UK number-one album, with 21,884 copies sold in its first week in the UK. The album also debuted atop the UK's Vinyl Albums Chart and Record Store Chart, and was noted for having 86% of its total debut sales coming from physical formats. Blossoms (band)
Blossoms are an English indie rock band from Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. Formed in 2013, the band consists of Tom Ogden (lead vocals, guitar), Charlie Salt (bass guitar, backing vocals), Josh Dewhurst (lead guitar, percussion), Joe Donovan (drums) and Myles Kellock (keyboards, synthesizer, backing vocals). They were on the BBC's Sound Of new music list for 2016, finishing in fourth place. Blossoms' self-titled debut album was one of the twelve LPs nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2017. That same year, they were nominated for British Breakthrough Act at the Brit Awards. "Waiting in Vain" is a song written by reggae musician Bob Marley and recorded by Bob Marley and the Wailers, for their 1977 album '' Exodus''. Released as a single, it reached number 27 on the UK Singles Chart. The single was one of only a few of Marley's Island singles to feature a non-album B-side, this being the song "Roots", an outtake from the '' Rastaman Vibration'' sessions.
