Garten
Garten is a populated island in Ørland Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The island is located on the north side of the mouth of the Trondheimsfjorden, just southwest of the mainland. The island lies about southeast of the island of Storfosna. The main population center on the island is also referred to as the village of Garten. There is a bridge to the mainland as well as car ferry connections to the nearby island of Storfosna (also in Ørland Municipality) and also to the island of Leksa (in neighboring Orkland Municipality) and to the mainland of Orkland. Ørland is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Trøndelag Counties of Norway, county, Norway. It is part of the Fosen Districts of Norway, region. Ørland is located at the southwestern tip of the Fosen peninsula at the northern shore of the mouth of Trondheimsfjord where the Stjørnfjorden arm begins. Storfosna
Storfosna is a populated island in Ørland Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The island is located between the islands of Kråkvåg and Garten north of the mouth of the Trondheimsfjorden. The traditional district of Fosen is named after this island. There is a large deer population on the island. The island is connected to the island of Kråkvåg by a causeway and bridge, and is connected to Garten (and the mainland) by a car ferry. The Storfosna Church is located on the island. The local and county governments are planning to build an undersea tunnel connecting Storfosna to the island of Garten (which is connected to the mainland by road). Leksa
Leksa refers to two islands in the Trondheimsleia strait in Orkland Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. Leksa is made up of the smaller north island, Nordleksa, and the larger south island, Sørleksa. The two islands have been connected by a small causeway since 1986. There are about 30 inhabitants between the two islands with about four farms still in use. Leksa has a store and a post office, and is used as a recreational resort. There is a car ferry from Vernes on the mainland to Nordleksa and ten another one to Garten from Nordleksa. The Sørleksa port is for express catamaran boat between the cities of Trondheim and Kristiansund. On Sørleksa there is a small fishing harbour with a breakwater whose construction work was finished in 1978. During World War II, there were about 300 German soldiers stationed at Leksa, and there were also 60-70 Polish and Russian prisoners of war who were imprisoned here for about 2 years. Trøndelag
Trøndelag (; or is a county and coextensive with the Trøndelag region (also known as ''Midt-Norge'' or ''Midt-Noreg,'' "Mid-Norway") in the central part of Norway. Trondheimsfjorden
The Trondheim Fjord or Trondheimsfjorden (), an inlet of the Norwegian Sea, is Norway's List of Norwegian fjords, third-longest fjord at long. It is located in the west-central part of the country in Trøndelag county, and it stretches from Ørland Municipality in the west to Steinkjer Municipality in the north, passing the city of Trondheim (city), Trondheim on its way. Its maximum depth is , in the channel between Orkland Municipality and Indre Fosen Municipality.
