The township contains the unincorporated communities of Bradfordton and Salisbury. Sangamon County is a county located near the center of the U.S. state of Illinois. According to the 2020 census, it had a population of 196,343. Its county seat and largest city is Springfield, the state capital. Sangamon County is included in the Springfield, IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. Salisbury Township was a civil township of Sangamon County, Illinois from 1861 to 1989. The population was 591 at the 1980 census.
