Gabriel Zahiu (17 November 1956 – 20 November 2023) was a Romanian footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Gabriel Zahiu was born on 17 November 1956 in Buzău, Romania, starting to play football at local club, Gloria in Divizia B for two seasons between 1973 and 1975. Afterwards he went to play for Divizia A club, Steaua București, making his debut in the competition on 17 August 1975 in a 2–1 home victory with FCM Reșița. By the end of his first season with Steaua, he helped the club win The Double, being used by coach Emerich Jenei in nine league games but did not appear in the 2–1 win over CSU Galați from the Cupa României final. In the following season he reached another Cupa României final, Jenei sending him on the field in the 72nd minute to replace Radu Troi in the eventual 2–1 loss in front of Universitatea Craiova. Buzău
Buzău (; formerly spelled ''Buzeu'' or ''Buzĕu'') is a city in the historical region of Muntenia, Romania, and the county seat of Buzău County. BSC Young Boys
Berner Sport Club Young Boys (YB by short abbreviation, ) is a Swiss professional sports club based in Bern, Switzerland. Its first team has won 17 Swiss league championships and eight Swiss Cups. Fotbal Club Politehnica Timișoara (), commonly known as Politehnica Timișoara or simply Poli Timișoara, was a Romanian Association football, football club from Timișoara, Timiș County, established in 1921 and dissolved in 2012. Marcel Răducanu
Marcel Răducanu (born 21 October 1954) is a Romanian former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Club career Marcel Răducanu was born in Bucharest on 21 October 1954. He grew up in the Pantelimon neighborhood and started to play organised football at the age of 7 at Progresul București, after which at the age of 9 and a half he moved at Steaua București's youth center where he was coached by Francisc Fabian. Răducanu made his Divizia A debut on 22 April 1973, playing for Steaua in a 2–0 loss against CSM Reșița. Gheorghe Constantin
Gheorghe Constantin (14 December 1932 – 9 March 2010) was a Romanian footballer and coach, nicknamed 'The Professor' and a symbol of Steaua București. Playing career Constantin began his career with Unirea Tricolor's youth team, and shortly after their dissolution, he signed with Venus București. He played for only one year at his new club before moving to Avântul Reghin, then CFR Iaşi, before finally signing a contract with Steaua București. He played for Steaua for 15 years and helped the club win 8 domestic titles. In 1969, the Romanian Communist authorities allowed him to play abroad for Kayserispor in Turkey at age 37. Constantin made his debut for the Romania national team on 22 April 1956 in a 1–0 win against Yugoslavia in Belgrade, a game notable for the fact that the entire Romanian team consisted of players from Steaua București. FC Sportul Studențesc, commonly referred to as Sportul, was a Romanian professional football club based in Bucharest, that last played at senior level in the Liga IV. Founded in 1916, Sportul Studențesc was one of the oldest Romanian clubs still active. The club's best European performance came in the 1979–80 Balkans Cup, when it won the trophy, defeating Yugoslav side NK Rijeka in the final. Anghel Iordănescu
Anghel Iordănescu (; born 4 May 1950), is a Romanian former footballer and former manager, who played as a forward. In 2007, Iordănescu retired from football, and the following February, after his predecessor resigned, he became a member of the Romanian Senate, sitting on the Social Democratic Party benches. On 26 December 2011, he became an independent senator, affiliated to the National Union for the Progress of Romania. His son, Edward Iordănescu, is also a former footballer, currently the head coach of the Romania national team.
