History GEC was created to unite the school systems in the seven districts of Gedo region. Gedo Region's seven school districts are Beled Hawo, Bardera, Buurdhuubo, Doolow, El Wak, Somalia, El Wak, Garbaharey and Luuq. Background For more than a decade, starting mid 1990s, disconnected schools appeared all across Gedo region. GEC chairman Ahmed Abdirahman Kaynan, thought of creating a center which caterers to all school districts in terms of unified curriculum and exam board center. Mr. Kaynan has long experience in working with educational institutions and setting up school boards. In electrical engineering, ground or earth may be a reference point in an electrical circuit from which voltages are measured, a common return path for electric current, or a direct physical connection to the Earth. Founded in 2005, the Global Electronics Council (GEC), formerly known as the Green Electronics Council, is a US-based environmental non-profit organization and mission to, "create a world where only sustainable technology is bought and sold". EPEAT GEC operates the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) system, which was designed to assist in the purchasing of "greener" Personal computer, PCs and displays, imaging equipment and televisions. The EPEAT system evaluates electronics on more than 50 environmental criteria, some required and some optional, that measure a product's efficiency and sustainability attributes.
