Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International
The Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International (FGBMFI) is a fellowship of lay businessmen. Its main purpose is to bring interest to the Christian gospel. Theologically, the organization has its roots in Pentecostalism. The headquarters is in Irvine, California. History FGBMFI was founded in 1952 in Los Angeles by Demos Shakarian, a California rancher. The expression "Full Gospel" in the name of the association is central to the vision of the organization. Following a difficult start (for a year nothing happened to the original group that met weekly), then a donation of $1000 was given to start a small publication titled Full Gospel Business Men's VOICE, it grew steadily, the second chapter was in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and after a few years chapters were set up throughout the world. Demos Shakarian
Demos Shakarian ( hy, Դեմոս Շաքարյան; 21 July 1913 – 23 July 1993) was an American businessman of Armenian origin from Los Angeles who founded the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International (FGBMFI). His story and the story of FGBMFI is the subject of the book ''The Happiest People on Earth'', written by John and Elizabeth Sherrill (''Guideposts'' Magazine) and published in 1975. Early life Demos was named after his Armenian grandfather, who, with most of his relatives were exiled in the late 1800s from Erivan Governorate (Armenia) to Karakala (Merkezkarakale) village, Kars Oblast, Russia, for their heretic folk-protestant religious views. In Kars they met and joined like-minded Spiritual Christian ''Pryguny'', denominations of various volunteer settlers and religious exiles from Russia. The term Full Gospel or Fourfold Gospel is a theological doctrine used by some evangelical denominations that summarizes the Gospel in four aspects, namely salvation, sanctification, divine healing and second coming of Christ. Doctrine This term has its origin in 1887 in a series of sermons called "Fourfold Gospel" by the pastor Albert Benjamin Simpson, founder of the Alliance World Fellowship in New York, United States, which characterize his teaching. According to him, this concept represents the 4 aspects of the ministry of Jesus Christ; Christ the Savior, Sanctifier, Healer and King who will soon return. Gideons International is an Evangelical Christian association for men founded in 1899 in Janesville, Wisconsin. The Gideons' primary activity, along with their wives in the Auxiliary, is "encouraging each other to do the work of the Lord, focusing on who they are before God, and strengthening the power of their personal testimony for the Lord Jesus Christ". They are most recognized for distributing copies of Scripture free of charge, paid for by freewill offerings from local churches and from members themselves. This Bible distribution is a worldwide enterprise taking place in around 200 countries, territories and possessions.
