Frente!
Frente! (or Frente) were an Australian folk- pop and indie pop group which originally formed in 1989. The original line-up consisted of Simon Austin on guitar and backing vocals, Angie Hart on lead vocals, Tim O'Connor on bass guitar (later replaced by Bill McDonald), and Mark Picton on drums (later replaced by Alastair Barden, then by Peter Luscombe). In August 1991, they issued their debut extended play, '' Whirled'', which included the track, "Labour of Love". In March 1992, they released a second EP, '' Clunk'', with its featured track, " Ordinary Angels", which peaked at No. 3 on the ARIA Singles Chart. It was followed in October by " Kelly Street" (unintentional misprint of "Accidentally Kelly Street" was retained) which reached No. 4. ''Marvin the Album'' is the Australian folk-pop and alternative rock group Frente!'s debut album, released 24 November 1992 (26 April 1994 outside Australia), and recorded in 1992 at Platinum Studios in Melbourne, Australia. Music videos were made for the tracks " Kelly Street" ic "Ordinary Angels" and " No Time", each of which were also released as singles. Additional videos were made for "Lonely" and "Bizarre Love Triangle" when these tracks were appended to the international release. Background ''Marvin the Album'' was the debut album by Frente! released on 24 November 1992, which peaked at No. 5 on the ARIA Albums Chart. It was produced by Daniel Denholm (Club Hoy), Michael Koppelman (Prince) and the band. The album was certified platinum in Australia. Accidently Kelly Street
" Kelly Street" is a song by Australian indie pop group Frente!. The single was released in October 1992 ahead of their debut studio album, ''Marvin the Album'' (24 November). The title includes an unintentional misspelling of "accidentally" that the band decided to keep. It peaked at 4 on both the Australian and New Zealand Singles Charts, and it was a minor hit in the United Kingdom in 1994, peaking at No. 80 on the UK Singles Chart. Angela Ruth Hart (born 8 March 1972), billed as Angie Hart, is an Australian pop singer best known for her role as lead vocalist in the alternative pop rock band Frente! and the indie pop duo Splendid with her then husband Jesse Tobias. Hart's solo career commenced in 2006 with the release the album, ''Grounded Bird '' (2007). Career 1972-1989: Early life Born in Adelaide, South Australia, she has an older sister, Rebecca, also a musician. Her parents were Christians from a missionary background. The family moved to Tasmania while Hart was still a baby where they lived in a Christian commune until she was 10 years old. ''Labour of Love'' is the third Extended Play by Australian alternative rock group Frente!. It was released outside of Australia in 1993. The EP peaked at number 10 on the US Top Heatseekers chart. Reviews JT Griffith of All Music gave the EP 4.5 out of 5 saying; " abour of Love isa collection of full songs and acoustic demos, the highlight is the standout cover of New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle". Five of the seven tracks are two minutes or less. "Labour of Love" and "Not Given Lightly" are representative of the Frente! sound: acoustic love songs built around Angie Hart's Lisa Loeb-like vocals. ''Whirled'' is the debut extended play by Australian alternative rock group Frente!. It was released in August 1991, and was released in 6 different coloured covers: brown, black, blue, gold, pink and yellow. Background and release Frente! were formed in Melbourne, as "Frente", in 1989 by Simon Austin on guitar and backing vocals, Angie Hart on lead vocals, Tim O'Connor on bass guitar, and Mark Picton on drums and recorder. The band spent two years performing in Melbourne's inner-city venues before, in August 1991, issuing their self-funded debut extended play, ''Whirled'', on the Thumb Print label. Splendid (musical Duo)
Splendid was a musical duo of Angie Hart and Jesse Tobias, who at the time were also husband and wife. History They met in Canada, August 1996, when the Australian band Frente!, fronted by Hart, arrived to play over two weeks of support dates for Alanis Morissette's ''Jagged Little Pill'' tour, Jesse's band for the last two years – previously with Mother Tongue and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. After the tour, Frente! dissolved. Hart and Tobias married, and decided to form a band, the result being Splendid. Splendid released its only album, ''Have You Got a Name for It'', in 1999. Jesse Tobias
Jesse Tobias (born April 1, 1972) is an American guitarist who is the lead guitarist and co-writer for Morrissey since 2004. Tobias first gained fame during a brief tenure with the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1993, although he was replaced by Dave Navarro within a month after joining the band. Before he joined the Chili Peppers, he briefly played with the band ''Mother Tongue''. In 1995, Tobias joined the touring band for Alanis Morissette and from 1999–2005 was a member of the musical duo, Splendid. Life and career In 1990, Tobias formed the band ''Mother Tongue'' in Austin, TX. They were signed to record label in 1992.
