Fremont School District 79 is a school district located in Mundelein, Illinois. The district is composed of Lincoln Early Learning Center, Fremont Elementary School, Fremont Intermediate School, and Fremont Middle School. The district is led by superintendent Dr. Trisha Kocanda. The school district holds 2,100 students in grades preschool through eighth grade. The school district serves students in a 34-mile radius from the communities of: Mundelein, Wauconda, Hawthorn Woods, Grayslake, Round Lake, Long Grove, and Libertyville. There are 158 full and part-time teachers and administrators. Of that number, 71 percent of the educators hold a master's degree or higher. Teachers have an average experience of 13 years teaching. Mundelein, Illinois
Mundelein is a village in Lake County, Illinois, United States and a northern suburb of Chicago. Per the 2020 census, the population was 31,560. It is approximately thirty-five miles northwest of Chicago. History The community now known as Mundelein has been inhabited since at least 1650, when the Potawatomi people were known to have been trading with French fur traders. The first European inhabitants reached the area in the early 19th century. Peter Shaddle (for whom a street is named) was the first known settler, building a log cabin in the area now owned by St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in 1835. The next settlers were tradesmen escaping from England's industrial depression, who became farmers in the Mundelein area. In honor of their former professions, they named the city "Mechanics Grove", and built schools, churches, and businesses. Buffalo Grove, officially the Village of Buffalo Grove, is a village in Lake and Cook County, Illinois. A suburb of Chicago, it lies about northwest of Downtown Chicago. As of the 2020 Census, Buffalo Grove has a population of 43,212. It totals of land, with the top three-quarters in Lake County and the bottom quarter in Cook County. Adlai E. Stevenson High School (AESHS), commonly called Stevenson High School (SHS), is a four-year public high school located in Lincolnshire, Illinois, United States. It is named after Adlai E. Stevenson II, the 31st Governor of Illinois. History Adlai E. Stevenson High School opened in September 1965. Before the opening of Stevenson, the students in the Stevenson area attended Ela-Vernon High School in Lake Zurich. Stevenson was planned to be a second school for the growing district, but the western side (Lake Zurich) of the district decided to build their own district. This left Stevenson with an unfinished building, no board or administration, and no faculty.
