Frank A. Jenssen
Frank Adolf Jenssen (21 January 1952 – 9 June 2017) was a Norwegian journalist, photographer, novelist and musician. He was born in Kjøpsvik. He made his literary début in 1981 with the novel ''Saltbingen'', for which he was awarded the Tarjei Vesaas' debutantpris. He published the novel ''Lengselens år'' in 2004. He died on 9 June 2017 at the age of 65. Kjøpsvik
or is a village in Narvik Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The village is located on the eastern shore of the Tysfjorden, north of the small village of Storå, Norway, Storå. The island of Hulløya lies off the coast of Kjøpsvik. The village has a population (2018) of 845 which gives the village a population density of . There are regular ferry connections as part of Norwegian National Road 827 from Kjøpsvik to Drag, Norway, Drag, across the fjord. The local Kjøpsvik Church serves the residents of this part of the Tysfjord parish. The main industry in Kjøpsvik is the Norcem cement factory. The village was the administrative centre of the old municipality of Tysfjord until 1 January 2020 when Tysfjord was dissolved. A novelist is an author or writer of novels, though often novelists also write in other genres of both fiction and non-fiction. A novel is a relatively long work of narrative fiction, typically written in prose and published as a book. Tarjei Vesaas' Debutantpris
Tarjei Vesaas's debutantpris is a prize awarded annually for the best first literary work in Norwegian. It is awarded by the Norwegian Authors' Union, and the organisation's 9-member Literary Caucus constitutes the jury for the prize. They choose the winner based on a free and independent evaluation on aesthetic criteria. In accordance with an agreement between the Authors' Union and the Norwegian Publishers' Association, all newly published Norwegian literature is sent to all members of the Literary Caucus. The members thus choose the year's winner without there being any direct application for the prize. The winner is chosen at the Literary Caucus' annual 3-day January meeting, at which the caucus performs most of the tasks within its mandate, concerning stipends, guaranteed income and prizes.
