Franco Rocchetta
Franco Rocchetta (born Venice, 12 April 1947) is an Italian politician, entrepreneur, philologist and history populariser, who is usually described as the "father" of present-day Venetian nationalism and independentism. Early life and political career Since his university years, Rocchetta has been a Venetist, a Europeanist, and a passionate of historical, archeological and linguistic studies, and, as such, he was active in Radical and green movements. Before coming of age, he was investigated for separatist writings on walls and for his solidarity with South Tyrolean activists. During the 1960s he was a member of the Italian Republican Party and the Italian Communist Party, which he left in order to join ''Lotta Continua'' in 1969. In 1978 Rocchetta founded the "Venetian Philological Society" (of which he was elected president). The Regional Council of Veneto (''Consiglio Regionale del Veneto'') is the regional parliament of Veneto. The Council, which has its seat at Palazzo Ferro Fini, located along the Grand Canal in Venice. was first elected in 1970, when ordinary regions were established, twenty-two years after the Italian Constitution envisioned them in 1948. Composition The Regional Council of Veneto (''Consiglio Regionale del Veneto'') is composed of 51 members. 49 councillors are elected in provincial constituencies by proportional representation using the largest remainder method with a Droop quota and open lists, while the remaining two are the elected President and the candidate for President who comes second. The Chamber of Deputies ( it, Camera dei deputati) is the lower house of the bicameral Italian Parliament (the other being the Senate of the Republic). The two houses together form a perfect bicameral system, meaning they perform identical functions, but do so separately. Italian General Election, 1992 (Veneto)
The Italian general election of 1992 took place on 5–6 March 1992. The election was a realigning one in Italy, due to the rise of Lega Nord, a federation of northern regionalist parties of which LV was a founding member. The realignment was especially visible in Veneto, where DC, though still being the largest party, lost almost a third of its voters between 1987 and 1992, stopping at 31.5%. LV gained ground in the ''Pedemontana'', that is to say the provinces at the feet of the mountains, most of which had long been Christian Democratic heartlands: 21.5% in the province of Treviso, 20.6% in Verona and 19.5% in Vicenza. In Belluno LV became the largest party with 27.8%, by reducing the vote of DC and halving that of the PSI. The total score of Venetist parties was 31.8% in Vicenza, 29.3% in Treviso, 27.2% in Verona and 22.9% in Padua. The PDS got just 9.9% regionally, fairly less than the PCI in 1990. Francesco Enrico Speroni (born 4 October 1946, in Busto Arsizio) is an Italian politician. Career Speroni has been flight engineer from 1970 to 1997, remaining on leave since 1989. A member of the Northern League, Speroni has been a Member of the European Parliament from 1989 to 1994, a Senator from 1992 to 1999 and again an MEP from 1999 to 2014. He served as Minister for Institutional Reforms in first Berlusconi government, from 1994 to 1995. As MEP, he co-chaired the Europe of Freedom and Democracy group from 2009 to 2014. Marilena Marin (born 24 July 1947) is an Italian Venetist politician. A native of Conegliano, she was a founding member of Liga Veneta in 1978–1980 and, after a party purge in 1984, she was elected national secretary of the party replacing Achille Tramarin. In 1987 she married with Franco Rocchetta, the party's practical leader and contributed to the birth of Lega Nord in 1991. In June 1994 she was elected as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP), but only one month later she was replaced by Fabrizio Comencini as national secretary during a party congress. In September she left the party and in December joined the Federalists and Liberal Democrats. Giuseppe "Gipo" Farassino (11 March 1934 – 11 December 2013) was an Italian singer, songwriter, musician and politician. Biography As a songwriter Farassino produced more than 30 albums and virtually 50 singles. Most of his songs were in Piedmontese language and were directly inspired by French chanson and chansonniers. Farassino, who was also active as an actor, obtained his first major success in 1968 with ''Avere un amico'', a collection of his most well-known songs in Italian.
