Forécariah
Forécariah (N’ko: ߝߏߙߋߞߊߙߌߦߊ߫) is a sub-prefecture and town located in western Guinea. It is the capital of Forécariah Prefecture. As of 2008, the population was estimated to be around 21,710. Famous people It was the birthplace of Henri Duparc, the film director. Mining Forecariah is a possible station on a heavy duty railway between Kalia mine and Matakong port for the export of iron ore. One of the mines is at Kalia. Ebola Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, head of United Nations Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UMEER) visited Forécariah in March 2015, concerned about the continuing large number of cases of Ebola. He called for closer collaboration between health services in Guinea and neighbouring Sierra Leone. This was in the context of three quarters of all Ebola cases worldwide being in the combined areas of Forécariah Prefecture and neighbouring Kambia District in Sierra Leone. Matakong
Matakong is an island just off the coast of Guinea between the capital Conakry and the Sierra Leone border. Nomenclature Matakong is also called Matakan. Transport Matakong is the proposed port terminus of the heavy duty standard gauge Trans-Guinean Railway, aimed at transporting large iron and bauxite deposits to the coast, notably from the mines at Simandou, 650km west. The proposed Bellzone iron ore mine at Kalia may also share this railway line. New port A new deep water port is needed because, firstly, the port at Conakry is built out and there is no room, and secondly, because a new port at Matakong has better access though flatter ground to the hinterland. A 20 km pier may be needed to reach deep water. N'Ko Script
N'Ko () is a script devised by Solomana Kante in 1949, as a modern writing system for the Mandé languages of West Africa. The term ''N'Ko'', which means ''I say'' in all Mandé languages, is also used for the Mandé literary standard written in N'Ko script. The script has a few similarities to the Arabic script, notably its direction (right-to-left) and the letters which are connected at the base. Unlike Arabic, it is obligatory to mark both tone and vowels. N'Ko tones are marked as diacritics, in a similar manner to the marking of some vowels in Arabic. Kalia is one of two towns in Guinea with this name. This is the one in Faranah Prefecture. It is east of the capital Conakry near Faranah and near to the border with Sierra Leone. Ismaïl Ould Cheikh Ahmed ( ar, إسماعيل ولد الشيخ أحمد; born 9 November 1960, in Nouakchott) is a Mauritanian diplomat and politician.
