Fort Acuña
Fortunato "Fort" Acuña (April 17, 1948 – July 6, 1981) was a Filipino professional basketball player and coach. A 6'1" center/forward, he played for the UP Fighting Maroons in the UAAP. In the MICAA, Acuña played for the Meralco Reddy Kilowatts until it disbanded in 1972. He joined the newly formed Toyota Comets in 1973, along with Meralco teammates Alberto Reynoso, Orlando Bauzon, Robert Jaworski and Francis Arnaiz. He continued with the Toyota team when the franchise transferred to the Philippine Basketball Association in 1975. Acuña retired from active play after the 1978 PBA All-Filipino Conference and began serving as assistant coach for Toyota. On December 11 1979, he replaced Dante Silverio as Toyota head coach after Silverio resigned when management decided to reinstate Ramon Fernandez, Ernesto Estrada and Abe King for Game 2 of the ongoing PBA Invitational Conference finals. Orlando Bauzon
Orlando "Orly" Bauzon (November 17, 1944 – September 5, 2020) was a Filipino basketball player and coach. Early life Bauzon was born on November 17, 1944 in Calasiao, Pangasinan in the Philippines during the later years of the Japanese occupation of the islands during the World War II era. Playing career Collegiate Bauzon played for the men's basketball collegiate varsity team of the University of Santo Tomas (UST). MICAA In the MICAA, he played for the multi-titled Ysmael Steel Admirals, the Meralco Reddy Kilowatts, and the Komatsu Komets/Toyota Comets. Bauzon joined Toyota in its first MICAA tournament in 1973 and was instrumental in securing his team a place in the final with his last second shot in the semifinal. The 1981 PBA season was the seventh season of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Crispa Redmanizers
The Crispa Redmanizers were a multi-titled Filipino basketball team that played in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) from 1975 to 1984. It was one of the nine founding teams of the PBA, winning a total of thirteen PBA championships, including two Grand Slam (PBA), grand slams. Founded in 1956 by businessman Valeriano "Danny" Floro, the team was owned by P. Floro and Sons, Inc. (defunct). Profile and history Named after the retail store and textile manufacturing company owned by the Floro family, the Redmanizers were managed by sportsman Danny Floro and coached for many years by the legendary Baby Dalupan, Virgilio "Baby" Dalupan. The Redmanizer moniker was a reference to the Redmanization process used in Crispa's textile manufacturing to make the cloth dimensionally stable and more resilient to unwanted shrinking after washing. Abe King
Abraham Columbus M. King, Jr. (born July 23, 1957) is a Filipino former basketball player who was part of the champion Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) ballclub Toyota Tamaraws. He was the starting center of 1976 MICAA champion Crown Motors before its PBA parent team, the Toyota Tamaraws, called upon his services at the start of the 1977 PBA season. Despite being renowned for his defensive prowess, King had recorded a 60-point game. PBA career King was an instant starter for the Tamaraws as resident power forward when Alberto "Big Boy" Reynoso retired at the end of the 1976 season. Ramon Fernandez
Ramon Sadaya Fernandez (; born October 3, 1953) is a Filipino former professional basketball player and current commissioner of the Philippine Sports Commission. Fernandez won four PBA Most Valuable Player awards and a record 19 PBA titles. Fernandez stood at 6'4 barefoot during his prime but due to mild gigantism grew to 6'5 during his final seasons. He scored 18,996 points to finish as the PBA's all-time scoring leader. He is also the PBA's all-time leader in rebounds, blocked shots, free throws made, playing minutes and second all-time in assists, games played and steals. He played for five teams in his entire PBA career starting with the Toyota, Manila Beer, Tanduay, Purefoods and San Miguel. Dante Silverio
Edmundo "Dante" S. Silverio, Sr. (born October 17, 1937), is a Filipino people, Filipino painter, former basketball coach and former champion race car driver. Motorsports Silverio rose to prominence in 1972, when he captured a rare double feat, winning the International Greenhills Grand Prix and, two months later, the Royal Rally of Champions. Basketball Toyota (1973-1979) Silverio became involved in basketball when he formed the Toyota Super Corollas, Toyota Athletic Club (Komatsu Komets/Toyota Comets) in 1973 which participated in the Manila Industrial and Commercial Athletic Association, MICAA.
