Forgotten Coast
The Forgotten Coast refers to a largely untouched and uninhabited area of coastline in the panhandle of the US state of Florida. The term, also a trademark, was first used in 1992, but the Forgotten Coast's exact location is not agreed upon. Description The Forgotten Coast is a trademark first used by the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce on September 1, 1992. The name is most commonly used to refer to a relatively quiet, undeveloped and largely uninhabited section of coastline stretching from Mexico Beach on the Gulf of Mexico to St. Marks on Apalachee Bay in the U.S. state of Florida. The nearest major cities are Tallahassee, about 90 miles northeast of Apalachicola, and Panama City, home of Tyndall Air Force Base, about 60 miles to the northwest. The Tourist Development Council of Franklin County defines the Forgotten Coast as Franklin County itself. Eastpoint is a census-designated place (CDP) in Franklin County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,337 at the 2010 census. Geography Eastpoint is located at (29.741560, -84.876951). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of , all land. Dog Island (Florida)
Dog Island is located in the northwestern Florida Gulf coast, just off-shore from Carrabelle, in Franklin County, Florida. There is, by reservation, ferry transportation to Dog Island on weekends. There are no stores, restaurants, or public restrooms on Dog Island. A hotel, the Pelican Inn, closed in 2016. The island is less than one mile wide at its widest, and just under seven miles long. The bulk of the island is owned by the Nature Conservancy and is a wilderness preserve. Bird nesting sites on several areas of the east end and west end of the island are strictly off-limits for people and pets. There is a volunteer fire department. Electricity and trash pickup are available. For some years in the early 21st century, there was a White Trash Bash on Dog Island on Memorial Day. Shrimp

Panacea, Florida
Panacea is an unincorporated community in Wakulla County, Florida, United States. History The community was known as Smith Springs until 1893 when some Bostonians purchased the land about the five springs here and renamed the town Panacea, after the goddess of universal remedy, because of the curative properties of the waters. Most of the development in the area was destroyed by a hurricane in 1928. During the Civil War a large plant here supplied salt for much of western Florida.
