Luis Alcoriza de la Vega (September 5, 1918 – December 3, 1992) was a respected Mexican screenwriter, film director, and actor. Alcoriza was born in Spain and, exiled because of the Spanish Civil War, established himself in Mexico from 1940. His 1962 film ''Tlayucan'' was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. His 1987 film ''Life Is Most Important'' was entered into the 15th Moscow International Film Festival. Janet Alcoriza
Janet Alcoriza (born Janet Riesenfeld; January 4, 1918 – November 12, 1998), also known as Raquel Rojas, was an American screenwriter and actress of Austrian and Scotch-Irish descent who spent most of her career in Mexico. She contributed to more than 50 films from 1945 to 1987, and early in her career was associated with Luis Buñuel. Biography Her father, Vienna-born composer Hugo Riesenfeld, emigrated to the United States in 1907, where he met and married Mabel Dunning. The couple had Janet in 1918 in New York City. When she was a girl, she fell in love with acting when she observed performances at the theater her father operated. She took lessons from her father's dancing teacher, and she later spent time in Mexico and Spain, which aided her in becoming fluent in Spanish. Maria Antonieta Pons (November 6, 1922 in Havana, Cuba – August 20, 2004 in Mexico City) was a Cuban-born Mexican film actress and dancer. She was the first actress in the ''Rumberas films'' in the 1940s and 1950s, in the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Career María Antonieta Pons began her career as a dancer in Cuba in numerous theaters and night clubs. When she was 16, she met Spanish actor and film director Juan Orol, who became her partner in various dance competitions on the island. After becoming Orol's wife, he took her to Mexico so she could act in films. María Antonieta Pons debuted in the Cinema of Mexico in the film '' Siboney'' (1938). Alex Phillips (cinematographer)
Alexander Pelepiock (January 11, 1900 – June 14, 1977) was a Canadian-born Mexican cinematographer known for working in over 200 films, most of them during the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. His most well-known works include '' The Other One'' (1946), '' Desired'' (1951), ''En La Palma de Tu Mano'' (1952), and '' Untouched'' (1955). Throughout his career, he was nominated fourteen times for an Ariel Award for Best Cinematography which he won twice for ''En La Palma de Tu Mano'' and '' Untouched''. In 1973, Phillips was recognized with a Golden Ariel from the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences for his excellence and contributions to the Mexican film industry.
