Fleming, Northern Territory
__NOTOC__ Fleming is a town and locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located about south of the territory capital of Darwin. The locality is named after the town which was named after the brothers, Jim and Mike Fleming, who are considered to be the first pastoralists in this part of the Northern Territory. Part of the town was established on land partly located in the former Oolloo Station pastoral lease established by Jim Fleming in 1907. The town was gazetted on 20 March 1996 and the locality was gazetted on 4 April 2007. For the 2016 Australian census which was conducted in August 2016, the population of the locality of Fleming (if any) was counted with that in the surrounding locality of Douglas-Daly to find that 238 people were living within the two localities. __NOTOC__ Douglas-Daly is a locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located about south of the territory capital of Darwin. Douglas-Daly consists of land associated with the catchments of the Daly and the Douglas Rivers and which is located between the towns of Adelaide River and Pine Creek and to the respective south and west of these towns. The Daly River forms part of the locality's boundary on its south-western side while the alignment of the Adelaide-Darwin Railway coincides in places with its north-eastern boundary. It is named after the Daly and Douglas Rivers. The term Douglas-Daly is reported by the official source as being widely used locally. Its boundaries and name were gazetted on 4 April 2007. The Victoria Daly Regional Council is a local government area in the Northern Territory of Australia. The shire covers an area of and had a population of 3,138 in June 2018. History In October 2006 the Northern Territory Government announced the reform of local government areas. The intention of the reform was to improve and expand the delivery of services to towns and communities across the Northern Territory by establishing eleven new shires. The Victoria Daly Shire was created on 1 July 2008 as were the remaining ten shires. The first election for the Shire was held on 25 October 2008. Daly is an electoral division of the Legislative Assembly in Australia's Northern Territory. It was created in 2001, and takes its name from the Daly River region which lies at the heart of the electorate. Daly covers some 77,395 km², encompassing the towns of Adelaide River, Acacia Hills, Batchelor, Dundee Beach, Nauiyu Nambiyu, Pine Creek, Timber Creek and Wadeye. There were 5,622 people enrolled in the electorate as of August 2020. Daly is a relatively new electorate in the Northern Territory, having only been created in 2001. It replaced Victoria River, one of the Territory's original seats and best known as the seat of the Territory's first head of government, Goff Letts. The Division of Lingiari is an Australian electoral division in the Northern Territory that covers the entirety of the territory outside of the Division of Solomon, which covers Darwin and surrounding areas. The division also includes the Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Lingiari includes all of the Northern Territory's remote Indigenous communities, most of whom vote when visited by mobile polling teams during the election campaign. 2016 Australian Census
The 2016 Australian census was the 17th national population census held in Australia. The census was officially conducted with effect on Tuesday, 9 August 2016. The total population of the Commonwealth of Australia was counted as – an increase of 8.8 per cent or people over the . Norfolk Island joined the census for the first time in 2016, adding 1,748 to the population. The ABS annual report revealed that $24 million in additional expenses accrued due to the outage on the census website. Results from the 2016 census were available to the public on 11 April 2017, from the Australian Bureau of Statistics website, two months earlier than for any previous census.
