The first lady of Kenya is the title held by the wife of the president of Kenya. The country's present first lady is Rachel Ruto, wife of president William Ruto, who took office on 13 September 2022. First ladies of Kenya Daniel arap Moi and his wife Lena Moi separated in 1974. However, they remained married until her death on 22 July 2004. Ngina reportedly retained her first lady status even after the death of her husband in 1978. Official papers and statements released by the Kenyan government identified Lena Moi as the country's "second first lady." Rachel Ruto
Rachel Chebet Ruto (born 20 November 1968) is a Kenyan educator currently serving as the First Lady of Kenya. She is the wife to William Ruto, the fifth and current President of Kenya. She was instrumental in assisting her husband's campaign, often seen by his side. Early life Rachel Chebet was born in Likuyani, Kakamega County, Western Region on 20 November 1968. Education and career She went to Likuyani Primary School, Kakamega County. She then proceeded to Butere Girls High School for her O and A levels. She got a chance to join Kenyatta University where she pursued a Bachelor of Education Degree. She went on to earn her Master of Arts in 2011 at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. Uhuru Kenyatta
Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta (born 26 October 1961) is a Kenyan politician who served as the fourth president of Kenya from 2013 to 2022. Kenyatta was chosen by Daniel Arap Moi as his preferred successor, but Kenyatta was defeated by opposition leader Mwai Kibaki in the 2002 election and Kibaki replaced Moi as president. Kenyatta served as the member of parliament (MP) for Gatundu South from 2002 to 2013. He also served as Deputy Prime Minister to Raila Odinga from 2008 to 2013. The politics of Kenya take place in a framework of a presidential representative democratic republic, whereby the President of Kenya is both head of state and head of government, and of a multi-party system in accordance with a new constitution passed in 2010. Executive power is exercised by the executive branch of government, headed bthe President who chairs the cabinet, that is composed of people chosen from outside parliament. Legislative power is vested exclusively in Parliament. The judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature.
