Finn Thoresen
Finn Thoresen (21 January 1932 – 30 May 2004) was a Norwegian businessman and politician for the Progress Party. He was a member of the central administration of the Progress Party (then Anders Lange's Party) from 1973 to 1976, and was chairman of its Østfold chapter from 1974 to 1975. From 1983 to 1990 he was the deputy mayor of Ski. He was elected deputy Member of Parliament (MP) for the Progress Party from Akershus from 1981 to 1985, and in 1989 he was elected as a regular MP. In November 1992 he however left the party, citing strong disagreements with the influence and development of the Youth of the Progress Party, which he claimed had "misunderstood" liberalism. He said he did not want to be "associated with gay marriages and liberal porn legislations". Progress Party (Norway)
The Progress Party ( nb, Fremskrittspartiet; nn, Framstegspartiet; se, Ovddádusbellodat), commonly abbreviated as FrP, is a right-wing political party in Norway. The FrP has traditionally self-identified as classical-liberal and as a libertarian party but is generally positioned to the right of the Conservative Party, and is considered the most right-wing party to be represented in parliament. It is often described as moderately right-wing populist; this characterization has also been disputed in both academic and public discourse. By 2020, the party attained a growing national conservative faction. After the 2017 parliamentary election, it was Norway's third largest political party, with 26 representatives in the Storting. Østfold
Østfold is a traditional region, a former county and a current electoral district in southeastern Norway. It borders Akershus and southwestern Sweden (Västra Götaland County and Värmland), while Buskerud and Vestfold are on the other side of Oslofjord. The county's administrative seat was Sarpsborg. The county controversially became part of the newly established Viken County on 1 January 2020. Many manufacturing facilities are situated here, such as the world's most advanced biorefinery, Borregaard in Sarpsborg. Fredrikstad has shipyards. Ski () is a town and former "kommune" (municipality) in the new municipality (January 1. 2020) Nordre Follo in the greater region Follo, in Viken ''fylke'' (county), Norway. Akershus
Akershus () is a traditional region and current electoral district in Norway, with Oslo as its main city and traditional capital. It is named after the Akershus Fortress in Oslo. From the middle ages to 1919, Akershus was a fief and main county that included most of Eastern Norway, and from the 17th century until 2020, Akershus also had a more narrow meaning as a (sub) county that included most of the Greater Oslo Region. The Progress Party's Youth ( no, Fremskrittspartiets Ungdom, FpU), is the youth wing of the Norwegian political party the Progress Party. It is generally considered to be more libertarian than the Progress Party itself. The organization has active chapters in all counties of Norway as well as in over 50 municipalities. From 2012, Himanshu Gulati was the organisation's chairperson. Gulati is the first leader of a youth wing of a major Norwegian political party with multi-cultural background. After being selected to the post of State Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Gulati stepped down. The New Future Coalition Party ( no, Samlingspartiet Ny Fremtid, SNF) was a Norwegian political party, which was founded by Member of Parliament Finn Thoresen in 1993. The party was never successful in elections, and merged with the Christian Conservative Party to form the Christian Unity Party in 1998. History The party was founded in early 1993 by Member of Parliament Finn Thoresen, after he had defected from the Progress Party in late 1992. It put up lists in all counties of Norway in the election of the same year and received around 8,000 votes, far away from parliamentary representation by any county. The Christian Unity Party (''Det Kristne Samlingsparti'') merged into the party in 1994. In the election of 1997, the party was reduced to setting up lists in only two counties.
