Beyoğlu (; ) is a municipality and Districts of Turkey, district of Istanbul Province, Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 9 km2, and its population is 225,920 (2022). Zühtü Müridoğlu
Zühtü Müridoğlu (26 January 1906 – 21 August 1992) was a Turkish people, Turkish sculptor and one of the first sculptors of the Republican generation. He attended the Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi, and was a student of İhsan Özsoy, there from 1924 to 1928. Graduating at the end of that period, he earned a scholarship to Europe and went to Paris, France. He studied art history at the Louvre and aesthetic lessons at Sorbonne. After returning to Turkey, he worked as a teacher from 1932 to 1936. He was one of the founders of the artists collective called ''D Grubu'' ("D Group"). In 1936, he worked at the İstanbul Archaeology Museums, Istanbul Archaeological Museum as a sculptor. In 1939, he taught at the ''Ankara Gazi Eğitim Enstisüsü'', and later at the Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi, Fine Arts Institute in Istanbul. After staying in Paris again from 1947 to 1949, he came back to the Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi, Academy, and started to teach in his own atelier. In 1955, he opened the ''A ... 50th Anniversary Of The Republic Sculptures
The 50th Anniversary of the Republic Sculptures () are 20 sculptures erected in Istanbul that were created by selected Turkish sculptors to mark the 50th anniversary of the Turkey, Turkish Republic. The sculptures were erected in various parks and squares in Istanbul in around 1973. Many of them were damaged, destroyed, lost, or moved, and only a handful remain today. It was difficult for Turkish sculptors to get their works seen in the years between 1950 and 1960; what sculptors needed was for their sculptures to be displayed in public spaces. There were very few public sculptures, other than monuments, in Turkey until 1973. In May 1972, the Committee for the 50th Anniversary of the Republic Celebrations gathered at the headquarters of the Governor of Istanbul. It initially planned to commission 50 sculptures to mark the anniversary; however, due to limited funds the number was reduced to 20.
