Føynland Bridge
Føynland is an island in Færder Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The island lies in between the large island of Nøtterøy and the smaller island of Husøy (in Tønsberg Municipality). The island is connected to the two neighboring islands by bridges. The densely populated northern part of the island is considered part of the metropolitan area of the city of Tønsberg. Vestfold () is a county and a current electoral district in Norway. Located on the western shore of the Oslofjord, it borders Buskerud and Telemark counties. The county administration is located in Tønsberg, Norway's oldest city, and the largest city is Sandefjord. With the exception of the city-county of Oslo, Vestfold is the smallest county in Norway by area. Vestfold is located west of the Oslofjord, as the name indicates. Nøtterøy (island)
Nøtterøy is the largest island in Vestfold county, Norway. The island is mostly located in Færder Municipality, but a small area on the far northern shore belongs to Tønsberg Municipality. The island is between the Ytre Oslofjord (to the east) and the Tønsbergfjorden (to the west). Most of the northern part of the island is considered part of the Tønsberg (town), city of Tønsberg metropolitan area which spans parts of Tønsberg and Færder municipalities. In the southern part of the island, there are three larger urban villages: Glomstein on the west coast, Kjøpmannskjær on the south coast, and Årøysund on the east coast. Historically, the island was part of the old Nøtterøy Municipality which existed from 1838 until 1 January 2018 when it became part of Færder Municipality. Husøy is a populated island in Tønsberg Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The island is part of the city of Tønsberg, located just off-shore, but it is not connected to Tønsberg by road. The island is a densely populated residential neighborhood that is also known as Husøy. The only bridge connection is to the village of Føynland in neighboring Færder Municipality. Tønsberg (town)
Tønsberg (), historically Tunsberg, is a city in Tønsberg Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. It is located about south-southwest of the capital city of Oslo on the western coast of the Oslofjord near its mouth onto the Skagerrak. The city is the most populous metropolis in Vestfold county. Tønsberg also serves as the administrative centre for Vestfold county and the seat of the County Governor of Vestfold og Telemark. Tønsberg is generally regarded as the oldest city in Norway, founded in the 9th century. Snorri Sturluson mentions the town in Harald Hårfagre's saga (written around 1220) before the battle at Hafrsfjord, which historians have traditionally dated to the year 872, therefore the town was in existence by 871 at the latest.
