The French Chess Federation (French : ''Fédération Française des Echecs'' – ''FFE'') is the national organization for chess in France. The president is Éloi Relange, the vice-presidents are Laurie Delorme and Jean-Baptiste Mullon and the treasurer is Éric Le Rol. The headquarters of the French Chess Federation is Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, near Paris. The French federation was founded in 1933. Asnières-sur-Seine
Asnières-sur-Seine () is a Communes of France, commune in the Hauts-de-Seine Departments of France, department and Île-de-France Regions of France, region of north-central France. It lies on the left bank of the river Seine, some eight kilometres from the Kilometre zero#France, centre of Paris in the north-western Banlieue, suburbs of the French capital. Éloi Relange
Éloi Relange is a French chess grandmaster and poker player. Career He is the son of painter Jean-Maxime Relange and has played with the Paris chess club Clichy. He earned his GM title in 1998, though gradually stepped away from professional chess beginning in 2005. He is also a poker player, and finished in first place in a € 500 No Limit Hold'em - Freezeout tournament in Paris in March 2008. He has also written articles for Live Poker. In April 2021, he became the president of the French Chess Federation. In May 2022, he led the federation to become part of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee. Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines () is a new town and an agglomeration community in the French department of Yvelines. It is one of the original five villes nouvelles ( new towns) of Paris and was named after the Saint Quentin Pond, which was chosen to become the town's centre. Alphonse Goetz
Alphonse Goetz (aka A. Geoffroy-Dausay; 15 March 1865, in Strasbourg – 12 July 1934, in Chaumont-en-Vexin) was a French chess master. Born in Strasbourg, France, he was a refugee after the Franco-Prussian War and the annexation of Alsace–Lorraine to the German Empire. In 1890, he was first, followed by Jean Taubenhaus, Stanislaus Sittenfeld, etc., in Paris. In 1892, he won ahead of Dawid Janowski Dawid Markelowicz Janowski (25 May 1868 – 15 January 1927; often spelled ''David'') was a Polish chess player. French Chess Championship
The French Chess Championship is the annual, national chess tournament of France. It was officially first played in 1923 after the formation of the ''Fédération Française des Echecs'' in 1921. The first unofficial national tournament was played in 1880, in the Café de la Régence The Café de la Régence in Paris was an important European centre of chess in the 18th and 19th centuries.
