Rugby Québec is the popular name of the Fédération de Rugby du Québec (formerly the Québec Rugby Union) which is the provincial governing body for the sport of rugby union in the Canadian province of Québec. The Fédération de Rugby du Québec is affiliated with the Rugby Canada, Canadian Rugby Union. The Fédération de Rugby du Québec origins are hard to trace for two reasons. First, rugby union in Canada converged with and then later split from the game of Canadian football, often with rugby football unions representing both games, thus making an exact history hard to establish. Second, the Fédération de Rugby du Québec has not put a great emphasis on maintaining detailed historical records. This has led to gaps in its administrative and competition history and the lost information may never be known. Eastern Townships
The Eastern Townships (, ) is a historical administrative region in southeastern Quebec, Canada. It lies between the Great Lakes–St. Lawrence Lowlands, St. Lawrence Lowlands and the American border, and extends from Granby, Quebec, Granby in the southwest to Drummondville in the northeast. Since 1987, most of the area is within the administrative region Estrie, and the term Eastern Townships is now used in tourist literature. The name derives from there also being western townships in Ontario. Beaconsfield RFC (Quebec)
Beaconsfield Rugby Football Club, from Beaconsfield, England, was founded in 1952 by Jack Hickman, a rugby enthusiast and a leading light at Ealing RFC. Because of the distance he had to travel to support Ealing, he decided to form a new local club and an advert was placed in the Bucks Free Press, along with local contacts. Eventually the first match was played on 1953-10-03 against Windsor Ex 'A'. Beaconsfield have always played on the pitches at Oak Lodge Meadow, but sometimes used the local Army Camp pitch. Before the first clubhouse was obtained, the sides changed at the Army Camp, had tea in the Puffins Tea Shop in the old town and adjourned to The White Horse to entertain the opposition. In 1958, small Burnham Hall was obtained to become the clubhouse. The present clubhouse was completed in 1971. The club regularly field three senior sides, and its mini & youth rugby provides the opportunity for some 700+ players to enjoy the game from under-5s all the way through to colts. ...
