Fužine (Ljubljana)
Fužine (; ) is a formerly independent settlement southeast of the capital Ljubljana in central Slovenia. It belongs to the City Municipality of Ljubljana. It is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region. Geography The village core of Fužine is a compact settlement on the right bank of the Ljubljanica River in Ljubljana's Golovec District. The soil is sandy, well-drained, and fertile, and fields lie to the south. Name The name ''Fužine'' comes from the common noun ''fužina'' 'forge' (a borrowing from Friulian ''fusine''), which referred to the ironworks established there by Hans Khisl in the 16th century. History The early history of Fužine is closely tied to that of Fužine Castle on the left bank of the river. The national flag of Slovenia () features three equal horizontal bands of white (top), blue, and red, with the coat of arms of Slovenia located in the upper hoist side of the flag centred in the white and blue bands. The Moste District (; ), or simply Moste, is a district () of the City Municipality of Ljubljana. It encompasses the east-central part of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It is named after the former village of Moste. Geography The Moste District is bounded on the north by the railroad to Dobova, on the east by the A1 Freeway, on the south by the Gruber Canal in the western part, but mostly by the Ljubljanica River, and on the west by the railroad to Metlika. Nove Fužine
Nove is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Vicenza in the region of Veneto, north-eastern Italy, with just over 5,000 inhabitants. It is located on the Brenta river, near Marostica and Bassano del Grappa. The town is home of a local network of ceramic industries. The name of the town comes from the antique Italian ''nove'', in the meaning of "new". As matter of fact, the lands where the town is located were considered new because of the lowering of the level of the Brenta. The lowering of the river revealed soft lands rich of clay. The first artisans of the area started using the clay for the production of pottery. The Ljubljanica (), known in the Middle Ages as the ''Leybach'', is a river in the southern part of the Ljubljana Basin in Slovenia. The capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, lies on the river.
